Trina Solar signs 117 MW supply agreement with PetroGreen: Trina Solar has announced that it has entered into a master sales agreement (MSA) with a subsidiary of PetroEnergy Resources Corporation, PetroGreen Energy Corporation. As part of the agreement, Trina will supply 117 MW of high-performance solar modules to multiple projects by PetroGreen’s subsidiary Rizal Green Energy Corporation. The projects will utilize 129,000 modules, generating about 129.14 GWh of energy annually in San Jose municipality, Nueva Ecija, and the provinces of Pangasinan and Isabela. Trina says the partnership will significantly contribute to the Philippine government’s 35% renewable energy target by 2030. The 2 companies see potential for future collaboration in areas such as solar tracker systems and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

Earlier this month, Trina Solar announced that it had received the ISO 37301:2021 certification from the British Standards Institution (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Trina Storage shortlisted for Xinhua Hydropower’s 4 GWh ESS bid: Xinhua Hydropower has announced Trina Storage as one of the winning bidders for the 2024 centralized procurement of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) electrochemical energy storage systems (ESS). Trina Storage is one among the 15 companies shortlisted, out of a total of 71 participants, for this 4 GWh ESS bid, which includes a 3 GWh 0.5C system and a 1 GWh 0.25C system.

SANY Silicon Energy’s Shuozhou integrated PV facility starts construction: Sany Silicon Energy has announced that it has broken ground on its Shuozhou integrated PV facility. The company is investing a total of RMB 8 billion ($1.105 billion) in the facility. It will mainly focus on independent research and development and vertically integrated manufacturing of monocrystalline silicon ingots, wafers, cells, and modules.

SANY Silicon recently announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Australian renewable energy distributor AZ Energy (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Itna Energy’s PV cell & module fab online: Itna Energy Technology, a joint venture between the Dalian Hengyi Group, Jinchen Solar and Innova Energy, has commissioned its high-efficiency cell and module facility. The facility has a planned production capacity of 5 GW of high-efficiency solar cells and building-integrated PV (BIPV) modules. With an investment of RMB 2.5 billion ($345.4 million), the facility is being constructed in 2 phases. A 2 GW high-efficiency n-type TOPCon solar cell and a 1 GW BIPV photovoltaic module production lines are part of Phase I. The company has reserved 160 acres of land for development as part of the second phase.

RE Solar completes Series A financing: RE Solar, a PV recycling company, has announced that it has completed Series A financing from Bright Capital, raising ‘tens of millions of RMB.’ It plans to use the proceeds for the construction of a production base, technology research and development and market investment. RE Solar calls itself the only full-chain PV recycling group in China with recycled silicon technology as its core. China is implementing PV recycling for the first time in 2024.

China’s March industrial solar power generation up 15.8%: The latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics of China shows that the country’s industrial solar power production grew 15.8% in March 2024. Industrial-scale hydroelectric and wind power generation also accelerated in March, while thermal and nuclear power growth declined. The 15.8% increase in solar power generation is an acceleration of 0.4 percentage points from January-February. Wind power grew 16.8%, up 11.0 percentage points, while nuclear power decreased 4.8%, having grown 3.5% in the previous months.
