Operation status of PV rolled glass industry released: The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China has released the operation status of the photovoltaic rolled glass industry spanning from January till August 2023. Here are the details:

Output from Jan-Aug 2023

  • The cumulative output of photovoltaic rolled glass was 15.94 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 65.5%. Among them, the output in August was 2.22 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 56.6%.

Prices from Jan-Aug 2023

  • The average prices of 2 mm and 3.2 mm photovoltaic rolled glass were RMB 18.4 ($2.52)/square meter and RMB 25.6 ($3.5)/square meter, down 12.2% and 6% respectively year-on-year. Among them, the average prices of 2 mm and 3.2 mm photovoltaic rolled glass in August were RMB 18.2 ($2.4)/square meter and RMB 25.3 ($3.4)/square meter, down 11.7% and 5.4% respectively year-on-year.

TÜV IEC 61730:2023 certification for Astronergy: PV module manufacturer Astronergy’s said via WeChat that it has received IEC 61215:2021/IEC 61730:2023 photovoltaic module certification from TÜV Rheinland for its ASTRO N series modules. This further re-emphasizes the company’s technological leadership and its pursuit for quality in the photovoltaic field. Earlier this year, Astronergy had promoted its latest n-type TOPCon rooftop product line called ASTRO N (see TOPCon And BIPV Modules From Astronergy)

RenShine perovskite module touches 19.42% efficiency: Over a WeChat communication, perovskite solar cells developer RenShine said that its 30cm*40cm perovskite module has been certified by China National Photovoltaic Industry Measurement and Testing Center as having achieved a conversion efficiency of 19.42%. The company went on to add that the module preparation processes are compatible with the 150 MW mass production line, and have passed the IEC61215 reliability test internally. In January this year, Renshine Solar had announced achieving 29.0% efficiency for all-perovskite tandem solar cell (see 29.0% All-Perovskite Tandem Solar Cell Efficiency)

Jinko Power invests RMB 2.3 billion in Saudi PV project: Clean energy supplier and service provider Jinko Power announced that it will be investing RMB 2.3 billion ($0.31 billion) to construct a 400 MW photovoltaic power generation project in Saudi Arabia. Located in the Al-Jouf, this project will adopt the build-own-operate (BOO) model and the construction will be completed in 21 months. The operation period is expected to be 30 years. On finishing, the project is expected to have an average annual power generation of about 1.24 billion kilowatt hours.
