  • Daqo New Energy’s phase 5A with 100,000 MT production capacity is now online
  • Located in Inner Mongolia’s Baotou in China, it is fully n-type technology compatible
  • It takes the company’s total annual nameplate production capacity of 205,000 MT

The world’s leading polysilicon manufacturer from China, Daqo New Energy has reached an annual nameplate production capacity of 205,000 MT after its 100,000 MT phase 5A facility in Inner Mongolia’s Baotou city reached full production capacity. It is fully n-type compatible.

Construction of Phase 5A was completed in April 2023. In a brief announcement, Daqo said phase 5A expanded as planned in June 2023 and is equipped with a fully-automated, digitized operational system.

“Our teams will continue to optimize operational efficiency, improve cost structure and enhance product quality, making it one of the most competitive polysilicon facilities which is fully N-type compatible to support the future development of the next generation of solar PV technology and products,” said Daqo CEO Longgen Zhang.

After a slew of highly profitable quarters, thanks to tight supply of polysilicon, Daqo saw its revenues decline by over 17% Qoq and over 44% YoY to $709.8 million in Q1/2023 as polysilicon ASPs dropped with new capacity coming online. For 2023, it targets to produce between 193,000 MT to 198,000 MT (see Daqo New Energy Gets Mixed Bag In Q1/2023).

Having produced 240,000 MT in 2022, Daqo was on 3rd spot on Bernreuter Research’s list of the world’s top 10 polysilicon producers in 2022, as Tongwei led with 345,000 MT (see Chinese Grip On Global Polysilicon Supply Firm).
