FRV has announced the commissioning of 138 MW San Servan 220 solar project in Spain’s Extremadura; GAC is acquiring 508 MW of ready-to-build solar plants from PED; Steag’s SENS will construct a 17 MW solar plant in Italy for KGAL; Blue Elephant Energy is acquiring 120 MW solar from Chint Solar in the Netherlands.

FRV’s 138 MW solar capacity online: Spain’s Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) has energized San Servan 220 Solar Project in the country’s Badajoz, Extremadura region. The facility is made up of SS6, SS7 and SS8 power plants with a combined 138 MW capacity. It is expected to generate 289,551,000 kWh annually which will be sold to Engie under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA). FRV says the project expands its current operational clean energy portfolio globally which it aims to expand to 4 GW in 2024, up from 2 GW in 2021.

Green Arrow Capital acquiring 508 MW solar: Italian asset manager Green Arrow Capital SGR (GAC) has signed a framework agreement with Spanish solar power company Progressum Energy Developments (PED) to acquire 508 MW of ready-to-build solar plants in Spain. The deal is to cost GAC over €400 million that has signed the agreement through Green Arrow Infrastructure of the Future (GAIF) launched in 2021. It takes GAIF’s pipeline of solar PV, wind and hydroelectric plants to over 800 MW.

Steag to build 17 MW PV plant in Italy: Steag Solar Energy Solutions GmbH (SENS), a subsidiary of German energy group Steag GmbH, is to start construction on a 17 MW solar power plant on the site of a former quarry in Italy for its client KGAL. SENS Italy will implement the project in Emilia Romagna’s Montecchio Emilia. On completion, it is expected to generate 25 million kWh annually. SENS plans to construct more projects in the surrounding regions over the next few years with a total capacity of around 60 MW. “With this project pipeline, we are getting closer and closer to the establishment of the first GW of capacity in Italy,” said Managing Director of SENS Italia, Sarah Herresthal. “This will also allow us to reach our goal of building another 3 GW of capacity across Italy by 2025.”

Blue Elephant Energy expands in Netherlands: German renewable energy developer Blue Elephant Energy (BEE) has acquired 6 ready-to-build 6 solar energy parks with 120 MW overall capacity in the Netherlands from Chint Solar. These facilities are planned to come online in H2/2022 with Chint Solar acting as the EPC company. BEE said its Dutch portfolio now expands to 621 MW with this acquisition and to 1.228 GW globally.
