GoldenPeaks Capital bags finance for Hungarian PV; Gamesa Electric inverters for Repsol; Solaria wants partners for its Landco Generia; MaxSolar building 76 MW plant in Germany & Elgin Energy 21 MW in Ireland; Sunnova/Thornova Solar bags Kiwa PVEL award.
Financing package for Hungarian projects: Poland-based independent power producer (IPP) GoldenPeaks Capital has secured senior and junior financing package for a 64.5 MW solar PV portfolio in Hungary. While Erste Group and Erste Bank Hungary provided the senior financing, junior financing was backed by a fund managed by the French asset manager Schelcher Prince Gestion (SPG). The portfolio is currently under construction and will enter into long-term power purchase agreements (PPA). Erste Group’s Executive Director for Corporate Finance Solutions Marcus Hinrich Fischer said, “Partnering with GoldenPeaksCapital, we have worked out a financial structure which gives more time and flexibility than usual to source and negotiate power purchase agreements with off-takers as one of the major commercial pillars of the project.”
Repsol order for Gamesa Electric: Gamesa Electric will supply its Proteus solar PV inverters to Repsol for the latter’s Spanish projects. The order comprises 30 units of Proteus PV Station 9000 and 4 units of Proteus PV Station 4500 for a total of 64 Proteus PV inverters together with 3 Gamesa Electric Orchestra plant controllers. Gamesa touts one of the highest power densities in the market for its Proteus inverters, contributing to significant improvements in the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE).
Solaria wants partners: Spanish solar PV company Solaria Energía y Medioambiente, S.A. has hired Alantra and Kutzabank Investment Norbolsa to support the growth of its Landco Generia by finding new partners in its capital. Solaria launched Generia, a company that will arrange land for solar projects in Europe in 2022. It sees land becoming a scarce and strategic asset for the development of renewables in the next decade.
76 MW under construction in Germany: German renewable energy company MaxSolar GmbH has started construction of a 76 MW solar park in Amerdingen municipality in the Swabian district of Donau-Ries in Germany’s Bavaria. The project is scheduled to come online towards the end of 2025. It will have its own substation in Holheim which will undergo construction in April 2025. The project will make an important contribution to meeting regional energy needs, according to MaxSolar.
Irish projects move forward: Elgin Energy has broken ground on 3 solar farms with a combined 21 MW capacity in Ireland. Located in Meath, Waterford and Longford, the 3 facilities will power close to 5,000 homes on completion. Elgin says these are 3 of 16 sites that Elgin plans to begin construction on in 2024.
Kiwa PVEL award for Thornova Solar: Germany-headquartered Sunnova/Thornova Solar, that has started rebranding to Thornova Solar, a process to be completed in early 2025, has received the Kiwa PVEL Top Performer award for its bifacial PERC module TS-BG72 (550), equivalent to the Zosma M Pro 550. It achieved top ratings across 5 accelerating stress tests as part of the Kiwa PVEL’s product qualification program (PQP). The 5 tests included thermal cycling, damp heat, mechanical stress sequences, and light and elevated temperature-induced degradation (LETID). The company will also exhibit its new TOPCon products for residential, alpine and agrivoltaic applications, at the upcoming Intersolar Munich 2025. Its high-density n-type modules for C&I and utility-scale applications will also be showcased at its booth A3.240.
