EDPR commissions the '2nd' largest Polish solar project; Alight expands solar portfolio in Finland & Sweden; Green Genius secures permit for projects in Lithuania & Latvia; BNZ constructing 135 MW solar in Italy; Lightsource bp secures corporate solar PPA with Microsoft in Poland.

200 MW solar plant in Poland: EDP Renewables (EDPR) has commissioned its largest European solar PV plant with 200 MW DC/153 MW AC capacity, in Poland. The company claims it is also the 2nd largest solar plant in the country. The Przykona located project is expected to generate close to 220 GWh annually with around 308,000 panels installed. EDPR says this facility increases its Polish installed capacity to exceed 900 MW, comprising more than 269 MW installed in H1/2023. It recently also inaugurated its first hybrid farm in Poland, integrating the 45 MW Konary photovoltaic plant and the 79.5 MW Polowo Wind Farm at the same substation.

Alight's solar projects in Finland & Sweden: Solar projects developer Alight has announced a ground mounted solar park with 100 MW+ capacity in Finland saying it will be one of the country's largest solar parks under development. The Eurajoki municipality-located project is scheduled to enter construction in Q4/2024 to be commissioned in Q1/2026. On the home turf of Sweden, Alight has started constructing a 13 MW solar plant with Solkompaniet as the contractor. The Nättraby Solar Park is the 2nd project to bring the 2 companies together as they previously collaborated for a solar park in Skurup. It is expected to come online in summer 2024.

Around 200 MW PV approved in the Baltics: Green Genius will invest €179 million to build close to 200 MW solar PV capacity in the Baltics. It has secured permit in Lithuania to build a 78 MW solar power plant near Seduva. In Latvia, it will construct 120.8 MW new PV capacity near Jekabpils city. Both the projects are scheduled to be commissioned in 2025 and supply power to the B2B segments.

135 MW solar portfolio in Italy: European independent power producer (IPP) BNZ has started the construction of 135 MW solar PV capacity in Italy. The 3-project portfolio will be located in Lazio region. The company said it plans to develop a total renewable energy pipeline of close to 500 MW in Italy by 2024-end. BNZ was launched by Glennmont Partners in September 2021 to build 1 GW PV capacity in Portugal, Spain and Italy by 2024 (see Glennmont Partners Launches New Solar IPP).
