Germany slowed down its PV installation activity in March 2018, installing 156.45 MW, according to the country’s Federal Network Agency. This is more than 22% less than the 202 MW installed in the previous month (see Germany Adds 202 MW In February). It is even 29% less than the big new year’s start with 220 MW reported in January 2018. However, when compared to March 2017 with only 111.1 MW added, installations were 40% higher this March.
It also looks good when the first 3 months of 2018 are put together as the total installed PV capacity in Q1/2018 was 578.99 MW, 140% more than 239.6 MW installed a year back. Last year, the highest PV capacity installation was reported in the month of May 2017 with 212.46 MW added.
It took 7 months for Germany to cross 1 GW PV additions in 2017. With half of it already crossed in the first three months of 2018, things look promising to reach that level in the first half year. Germans have set a target to report 2.5 GW of annual PV capacity, but it fell short of achieving it in 2017 and previous years (see Germany’s 1.75 GW Of PV In 2017 Misses Target).
Cumulative solar power installed in the country as of March 31, 2018 was 43.56 GW.
