The German Federal Network Agency Bundesnetzagentur has announced the 1st rooftop solar auction for 2024, with plans to tender a total of 900 MW this year. For the initial round, it is offering 263.236 MW capacity for PV on buildings or noise barriers.
The agency has capped tariffs at €0.105/kWh for all auctions for rooftop solar and solar for noise barriers this year, bringing it down from €0.1125/kWh in 2023, as announced recently (see Germany Announces Price Caps For 2024 RE Auctions).
The last date to submit bids for this round is February 1, 2024, as announced by the agency on its website.
Bundesnetzagentur plans to auction 900 MW of rooftop solar capacity this year, spread across 3 rounds. The bidding dates for the other 2 rounds are June 1, 2024 and October 1, 2024.
It will also auction 8.1 GW of ground-mounted solar PV capacity this year to be tendered in 3 rounds of 2.7 GW each, starting with 2,230.73 MW. Eligible projects need to be larger than 1 MW installed capacity. The bidding date for the initial ground-mounted tender this year is March 1, 2024, as per the agency's website.
For the 2 innovation tenders to be launched this year, Bundesnetzagentur will offer 583.25 MW each in 2 rounds.
Onshore wind also gets a large volume of 7.5 GW total capacity this year, to be auctioned in 3 rounds.
