The German Federal Network Agency, or Bundesnetzagentur, has invited bids for the country’s 2nd ground-mounted solar PV auction in 2024, for which it has offered a total of 2,147 MW capacity. The maximum tariff is capped at €0.0737 ($0.079)/kWh. 

The maximum bid volume remains fixed at 20 MW in this tender even as the limit has been raised to 50 MW in Solar Package I. Similarly, the higher cap for special solar projects such as agrivoltaics and moor-PV, and setting the minimum nature conservation criteria have not been approved under the European Commission’s state aid.  

Hence, despite the German government approving these measures, these won’t apply to the tender launched (see German Coalition Reaches Common Ground For PV Expansion). 

The last date for bid submissions for the tender launched on May 24, 2024 is July 1, 2024. Details are available on the agency’s website.  

The 2.147 GW tendered capacity is 1/3rd of the bid volume of 8.1 GW to be awarded by the agency in this category in 2024. The next auction is scheduled to be launched on December 1, 2024.
