Vivarea Condominium in Mumbai, Maharashtra is set to become the ‘1st’ residential housing society in India to source power from a group captive solar power plant with 3.125 MW capacity, to be installed by Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) in Himayatnagar, in Maharashtra’s Nanded district.

The condominium will become the 1st residential society to use captive solar energy for domestic use, stated TPREL.

The solar project will supply green power at around 40% less tariff than the existing tariff when it comes online by October 2023. The company will construct, operate and maintain the project that will designed to generate close to 7.5 million units of clean energy and offset 6.15 metric tons of CO2 in the 1st year of its operation.

Touting a portfolio of 1.3 GW rooftop and distributed generation projects across India and over 10 GW ground mounted capacity, TPREL says this will concept will ensure a large number of residential consumers have access to green and clean energy and aims to enable more citizens to opt for the model to meet their electricity needs.
