- Italian government has solicited applications to source funding for solar PV installations under Parco Agrisolare scheme
- Funding will be available to eligible applicants who can be agricultural entrepreneurs, agro-industrial enterprises and agricultural cooperatives
- Solar systems will need to be installed on buildings for productive use in agricultural, livestock and agro-industrial sectors
Italy has formally launched a notice inviting applications to install 375 MW solar PV capacity on buildings for productive use in agricultural, livestock and agro-industrial sectors that it will fund with €1.5 billion allocated under its €191.5 billion Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
The Italian Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies had announced earlier this year the decision to offer subsidies from PNRR for the Parco Agrisolare scheme reserving 40% of the amount for projects in Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Puglia, Sardinia and Sicily (see €1.5 Billion Italian Subsidy For Agri-PV).
Implementing agency of the funding amount for Parco Agrisolare, Gestore dei Servizi Energetici (GSE) has published rules and specifications of the funding round on its website. It will award funds for the purchase and installation of solar panels on rooftops of such buildings.
Solar systems of a minimum 6 kW and maximum of 500 kW will be supported and interested applicants can also request to get energy storage systems or electric vehicle (EV) charging devices funded.
Of the €1.5 billion allocated, it has reserved €1.2 billion for solar installations to be carried out by farms active in primary agricultural production. An amount of €150 million each will be awarded to solar projects of agricultural companies active in the sector of processing of agricultural products, and to those operating in the transformation of agricultural products into non-agricultural products.
The round is open to agricultural entrepreneurs—both individuals or corporates, agro-industrial enterprises and agricultural cooperatives.
Applications will be accepted between September 27, 2022 and October 27, 2022. Further details are available on GSE’s website.
