Neoenergia constructing 149 MW solar in Brazil: Iberdrola subsidiary Neoenergia has commenced construction on a 149.3 MW solar complex in Brazil. Luzia Solar Park is the company’s 1st utility scale solar power project and will be located in the Santa Luzia municipality of Paraiba state. Electricity generated will be sold entirely in the free market once it comes online in H2/2022. It will be established in the form of 2 projects with 233,280 solar modules, and 7,700 tons of steel. For perspective, Neoenergia says the amount of steel to be used is almost the volume used in the Eiffel Tower of Paris that is built with 10,000 tons.
Eurus Energy to build 80 MW solar in Chile: Eurus Energy America has secured green loan credit agreement with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) acting as the green loan coordinator. It has now secured finance to go ahead with the construction of close to 80 MW capacity in Chile under the country’s smaller distributed generation projects program PMGD. This portfolio expands its solar power portfolio in the country where Eurus currently owns 2 operational solar projects, and this new portfolio will scale up the company’s new portfolio to approximately 100 MW, to be owned and operated by Eurus.
Brazil’s TIM expanding renewable energy generation: Brazilian telecom operator TIM will take Faro Energy’s help to expand its clean energy portfolio. Faro Energy will invest, construct, operate and maintain 25 MW installed solar power capacity in Brazil’s Federal District and 5 other states. Around 45 GWh electricity generated from annually, which will power 970 antennas and towers of TIM in the northeast and midwest regions. Of the 15 solar power plants to come up, 10 are already operational and supplying power to TIM’s consumer units in Paraiba, Pernambuco, Ceara and Tocantins, and remaining 5 are at an advanced stage of construction. All projects will have solar trackers, said Faro Energy.
