$63 million for Brazilian solar market: US based renewable energy project developer and retail investment platform Energea Global has secured $63 million from London listed investment trust VH Global Energy Opportunities PLC (GESO) to co-invest in distributed solar projects in Brazil. The $340 million GESO trust will invest in select remote distributed power generation projects in Brazil with an aim to expand community access to cleaner and cheaper forms of renewable energy, said Energea Global. Both the partners will have identified 18 ready-to-build projects in 10 states, revealed as Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Para, Piaui, Rio Grande do Norte, Mato Grosso do Sul, Bahia, Sergipe, and Paraiba.

"Right now, Brazil has the perfect combination of supportive policy, strong energy economics, foreign exchange, and customer adoption, marking it a prime opportunity for investors looking for attractive returns on investment while helping to slow down climate change," said Energea's Managing Partner Mike Silvestrini.

Ground breaking on 160 MW solar project in Chile: Sonnedix has started construction on 160 MW Sonnedix Meseta de los Andes Solar Project in Calle Larga in Chile's Valparaiso region. On completion, it will produce around 386,750 MWh of clean energy annually. It is the 2^nd largest solar PV plant of Sonnedix in Chile. In April 2021, it energized its largest Chilean solar project with 170 MW capacity in the Atacama Desert (see Latin America PV Snippets: Sonnedix, Enel, Argentina).

EOI for solar system in Chile: The United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America (UN-ECLAC) has issued an expression of interest (EOI) to seek realization of a solar power plant for its ECLAC Chile's North Building Renovation Project. Last date to submit EOIs is July 20, 2021. It is seeking a developer to install 265 kW system on a specially designed structure, with a surface availability of close to 2,450 sqm. According to the EOI, "The bidders to the eventual bidding process shall confirm by means of a local partner or representative in Chile, access to technical service and supply of components and spare parts, during the handover process and requested guarantee period of the solar photovoltaic plant."
