Solar EPC service provider with roots in Japan, Shizen Energy Inc will conduct a feasibility study for what it claims will be one of the Southeast Asia's largest floating solar facilities at 150 MW in Malaysia, under Japanese government's Asia Energy Transition Initiative (AETI).
The said project is planned to come up at the Durian Tunggal Dam in Melaka with power generated to be supplied to local water utility in Malacca, Syarikat Air Melaka Bhd (SAMB). A consortium of Shizen Malaysia and Nusa Baiduri will conduct the feasibility from March 15, 2022 for 12 month-duration. Basis the results, the project will be constructed under phase 1 and 2.
"Floating Solar is an exciting opportunity and we can clearly see the benefits of our contribution to the water utility sector across Malaysia as such will continue to place focus on materializing these projects," said Shizen Malaysia CEO Alvin Koh. The company counts having a pipeline of over 200 MW in the country.
Shizen Energy recently completed the construction of a 1 MW solar power plant in Indonesia with Alam Nix Renewables for the logistics facility of PT. Anugerah Pharmindo Lestari (APL), a group company of Swiss healthcare company Zuellig Pharma.
