A total of 22 companies from across the world have expressed interest in the 310 MW solar and wind power tender in Ecuador. The tender is divided into 200 MW for El Aromo Solar PV Project and two wind power projects with 110 MW capacity (see 310 MW Renewable Energy Tender In Ecuador).

For the solar project to be located in Manabi province, it received 19 expressions of interest.

Applicants from 10 countries were not identified but the country of origin was specified as Italy, France, Spain, United Kingdom (UK), Canada, China, US, Portugal, Colombia and Germany.

According to the Corporación Eléctrica del Ecuador (Celec EP), technical commission will sift out pre-qualifiers from this round by November 13, 2019.  Next comes the bid submission round. On April 15, 2020, the list of winners will be announced and final contracts awarded.

The government had earlier shared that the El Aromo Solar PV Project will be developed for an investment of $200 million and will generate close to 280 GWh of clean power annually on completion.
