Key Takeaways
  • Alpex Solar has commissioned its 2.2 GW G12R TOPCon cell manufacturing line

  • Its Kosi-Kotwan plant expands Uttar Pradesh’s advanced solar manufacturing base, stated the company

  • Alpex is also expanding its manufacturing footprint across Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh

Alpex Solar has officially entered into solar cell manufacturing with the inauguration of a 2.2 GW G12R TOPCon solar cell manufacturing facility at Kosi-Kotwan Industrial Area in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh (UP).

Spread over a 900,000-square-foot area, the plant is the first integrated TOPCon giga manufacturing line in Uttar Pradesh, according to Alpex. The facility will manufacture G12R TOPCon solar cells to serve the domestic market.

The new capacity adds cell manufacturing to Alpex Solar’s existing operations in modules and EPC services.

The cell plant forms part of Alpex Solar’s broader move toward an integrated solar manufacturing platform. Its portfolio now spans solar cells, PV modules, EPC solutions, solar pumps, and aluminum frames. At the end of December 2025, Alpex operated 1.2 GW of solar module production capacity, which it planned to expand to 3.6 GW.

“The 2.2 GW G12R TOPCon cell manufacturing facility marks an important milestone in Alpex Solar’s journey from a solar module manufacturer and EPC provider to a more deeply integrated renewable energy company,” said Aditya Sehgal, CEO of Alpex Solar.

Speaking with TaiyangNews at REI 2025, Sehgal had shared that the initial plan was to operate the 2.2 GW cell factory as a mono-PERC facility, but it switched to G12 TOPCon cell technology to better align with industry trends (see TaiyangNews Leadership Talks: Alpex Solar At REI 2025).

Monica Sehgal, Whole-Time Director, Alpex Solar, said vertical integration would provide the company greater control over inputs, technology, and quality while allowing it to respond to changing market requirements.

Alpex said it is expanding existing operations in Greater Noida, with five new manufacturing units planned across Greater Noida, Kosi-Kotwan in Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh, without sharing details of the capacity, investment, or timeline.
