Global technology giant Apple, Inc., has announced a series of sustainability initiatives in India, led by an initial investment of around INR 100 crore in partnership with CleanMax to expand renewable energy infrastructure across the country.

The investment will support the development of more than 150 MW of new renewable energy capacity, which Apple said could generate enough electricity to power around 150,000 Indian households annually. It added that this capacity may expand in the coming years.

Apple explained that this initiative aims to support decarbonization in India’s commercial and industrial (C&I) sector while helping Apple advance its goal of becoming carbon neutral across its global operations by 2030.

Previously, Apple and CleanMax worked together on a rooftop solar project portfolio to power the former’s India offices and retail stores with 100% renewable energy (see Apple Announces New Investments In Solar Energy Projects).

Alongside the clean energy investment, Apple also announced partnerships focused on the circular economy, waste management, and green entrepreneurship.

CleanMax Managing Director and Founder Kuldeep Jain said, “At CleanMax, we see ourselves as a longterm net-zero partner to corporates, and we are proud to continue working with a company like Apple that continues to push the ecosystem to think bigger, move faster, and build more responsibly.”

Earlier, CleanMax announced a partnership with Google to develop 125.4 MW hybrid project for the latter’s operations in India (see Google & CleanMax Join Hands For Clean Energy In India).
