Enfinity Raises $164 Million For Japanese PV Projects & More From Levanta, Obton, FRV, Ingeteam

$164 million for Enfinity Global's Japanese portfolio: Actis' Levanta expands in Thailand; Obton invests in Japanese solar projects; FRV commissions hybrid PV & BESS project in Australia; Ingeteam secures power electronics order in Australia. 

$164 million for PV in Japan: US-based renewable energy company Enfinity Global has raised $164 million in financing for its 250 MW solar PV portfolio in Japan. Macquarie Capital and a syndicate led by Shinhan Asset Management contributed to the financing. Its 250 MW portfolio comprises 7 projects that are operational and 1 utility-scale solar PV project under construction, with an enterprise value of over $1 billion. It is expected to generate more than 300 GWh annually.   

Levanta invests in Thailand: The Southeast Asia-focused renewable energy platform of global investor Actis, Levanta Renewables has forayed into the Thailand market via acquisition. It has acquired a controlling interest of 90% in a 139.4 MW operational solar project portfolio from leading Thai renewable energy developer, Super Energy Corporation Public Co. Ltd. and its subsidiary Super Energy Group Co. Ltd. Super Energy is also operating in the Vietnam market. Levanta says this portfolio comprises 24 ground-mounted solar farms, each with a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Provincial Electricity Authority of Thailand. Levanta CEO Sudhir Nunes said this acquisition paves the way for the company to further pursue greenfield and brownfield opportunities for both utility-scale and C&I projects in Thailand.    

Danish company announces Japanese JV: Denmark's solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) company Obton has announced its 1st joint venture (JV) with solar-focused renewable energy investment manager GSSG Solar, LLC and its affiliates. Together, these companies have acquired 117 MW of Japanese solar projects from BCPG Thailand. Of these, 8 projects with 104 MW capacity are operational, while a 13 MW project is under development. All of these are part of Japan's Feed-in-Tariff (FiT) program of 2012. 

MoU for solar in South Korea: Singapore-headquartered renewable energy developer Peak Energy is investing in a 50 MW rooftop solar portfolio in South Korea. For this, it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Shinsung E&G and YSP Co., Ltd. Power generated will be supplied to RE100 companies. Peak Energy will be responsible for project coordination, business management, financing and sourcing corporate customers, while Shinsung and YSP will source rooftops and lead construction activities.

FRV's Australian project: Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) Australia has commissioned its 1st hybrid project in Queensland, Australia. Located in Dalby, the facility comprises 2.45 MW DC solar PV and 2.54 MW/5 MWh BESS. FRV says this is one of the 1st hybrid solar PV and BESS projects connected to the national grid to have become operational in Australia. Gransolar was the EPC contractor for the facility. 

Ingeteam's Australia expansion: Spanish solar PV company Ingeteam has secured a new supply contract for an Australian solar PV plant. It will supply power electronics technology with 15 transformer stations as a turnkey solution along with the Power Plant Controller (PPC) system for the project. Owned by Enel Green Power Australia, the Girgarre Solar Farm has 93 MW DC capacity. It is located in Campaspe Shire in Victoria. The solar farm has been under construction since August 2023 and is to last 18 months, post which it will operate for around 35 years.
