Vena Energy Starts 72 MW Solar Project in Japan

Vena Group has started commercial operations at its 72 MW Maniwa Solar Project in Maniwa City, Okayama Prefecture, Japan. The project was developed on a former golf course, repurposing previously developed land for solar power generation. Vena says the project supports the first virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) signed by LY Corporation and is Japan’s largest single solar facility dedicated to VPPAs, according to Vena Group. Digital Grid Corporation trades the electricity generated by the project on the Japan Electric Power Exchange. The project is expected to generate enough electricity to meet the annual consumption of approximately 18,500 households.

LGI to Acquire Two Operating Solar Farms in Queensland

Australian renewable energy company LGI Limited has agreed to acquire two operating solar farms in Queensland with a combined export capacity of 54 MW DC/42 MW AC for AUD 22 million. The acquisition covers 34.5 MW DC/27.3 MW AC Brigalow Solar Farm and the 19.9 MW DC/14.7 MW AC Chinchilla Solar Farm. LGI estimates that the acquisition could contribute EBITDA of AUD 2.1 million to A$4 million, depending on revenue synergies and the implementation of its Dynamic Asset Control System (DACS). The company plans to apply DACS to optimize electricity dispatch and improve market returns. It is also evaluating BESS integration at both sites. The acquisition will increase the company’s targeted medium-term pipeline of distributed, renewable and dispatchable capacity to more than 120 MW.
