86 MW solar farm in Singapore: Sembcorp Industries, through its subsidiary Sembcorp Solar Singapore, has won the bid to build a nearly 86 MW floating solar farm on Pandan Reservoir. Singapore’s National Water Agency PUB selected Sembcorp for the project. This is Sembcorp’s 3rd floating solar project in Singapore, as it previously completed the country’s 1st large-scale inland floating solar farm at Tengeh Reservoir with 60 MW capacity in 2021. Earlier in 2025, it also signed a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Malkoha Pte Ltd, a Meta Platforms company, to build a 150 MW floating solar farm on Kranji Reservoir (see Meta To Offtake Power From 150 MW Floating Solar Plant).
TagEnergy acquires ACE Power: Clean energy independent power producer (IPP) TagEnergy has acquired ACE Power, an early-stage renewables developer in Australia, in a move that adds a 6 GW pipeline of wind, solar, and battery projects to its Australian portfolio. TagEnergy says this acquisition of ACE from the company’s majority shareholder, Pelion New Energy, and several minority shareholders, expands its Australian pipeline to 10 GW and strengthens its local presence with 27 new experts. It aims to become a leading integrated power producer in Australia, combining ACE Power’s development expertise with its own capabilities in commercialization, delivery, and long-term investment.
400 MW solar project in New Zealand: New Zealand’s state-owned electricity generator Meridian Energy Limited and electricity retailer Nova Energy Limited have completed agreements to establish a joint venture (JV) for the 400 MW Te Rahui Solar Farm in New Zealand. The 50:50 JV will build and operate the solar farm at Rangitāiki near Taupō, and has secured NZD 300 million ($177 million) project financing for the initial 200 MW capacity. The project offtake will be shared 50-50 by way of a power purchase agreement with Meridian for 100% of the offtake and a contract for difference with Nova for 50%. Initial power on phase I is expected in mid-2026, and full power in mid-2027. The 2 companies initially announced a partnership for this project late last year (see Asia Pacific Solar PV News Snippets).
RE job preparation: The New South Wales (NSW) state government in Australia has announced AUD 2.9 million ($1.9 million) in funds for the Renewable Energy Skills Legacy Program. To be implemented by EnergyCo and the Department of Education, the program will deliver accredited training, apprenticeships, and career pathways for the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ), which it expects to create around 5,000 construction jobs at its peak. “These are the jobs of the future, and we want to make sure local people have the chance to benefit,” said NSW Minister for Skills, TAFE and Tertiary Education, Steve Whan. This is the 1st of the 5 REZs planned by the state (see Central-West Orana REZ Expands Renewable Energy Potential To 7.7 GW).
PPA for 8.4 MW in the Philippines: Philippines-based solar energy company Berde Renewables has signed a solar power purchase agreement (PPA) with local businesses KCC Malls and Biotech Farms. A portfolio company of global infrastructure investor I Squared Capital, Berde will fully finance and oversee the EPC of the solar project that will generate approximately 13 million kWh of clean energy annually on completion. It will be delivered to KCC Mall Gensan, KCC Mall Marbel, KCC Mall Zamboanga, and the Biotech Farms’ agro-industrial facility in South Cotabato.
