Key Takeaways
  • Avaada plans 6 GW of renewable capacity in Gujarat, comprising 5 GW solar & 1 GW wind, plus 5 GWh BESS

  • This will be worth an investment of INR 360 billion under an MoU signed at Vibrant Gujarat 2025

  • These projects will enhance grid stability, reduce carbon emissions, and create 8,000+ jobs, claims the company

Indian solar PV company Avaada Group has unveiled plans to build more than 6 GW of renewable energy generation capacity in Gujarat, comprising 5 GW of solar PV and 1 GW of wind capacity. Its plans also include establishing 5 GWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) in the state.

The facilities will be spread across Kutch, Banaskantha, and Surendranagar districts, and are expected to be commissioned between 2027 and 2030.

Avaada estimates an investment worth INR 360 billion ($4.1 billion) to realize this capacity, for which it signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the state government at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2025.

“We believe this investment is a step forward in realising India’s renewable energy ambitions, enhancing energy security and reducing carbon emissions,” said Avaada Group Chairman Vineet Mittal.

These projects will help with grid stability and dispatchable green electricity for Gujarat, while bringing down carbon emissions. Use of robotic module cleaning technology will help save around 160 million liters of water annually, the company said.

Avaada also estimates creating more than 1,000 direct and 2,000 indirect jobs with this investment, along with 5,000 jobs during the construction phase.

Recently, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Avaada’s 280 MW solar power plant in Surendranagar and laid the foundation for a 100 MW solar facility in Vadodara. Avaada also announced a INR 92 billion investment in Rajasthan (see India Solar PV News Snippets).
