Avaada Electro has commissioned the first 3 GW production line at its planned 6 GW TOPCon solar cell facility in Nagpur
The company aims to expand its module capacity to 13.6 GW and total solar cell capacity to 12 GW through planned additions
It has also planned a 3 GW ingot and wafer manufacturing facility in Nagpur to support backward integration
Avaada Electro, the solar PV manufacturing arm of Avaada Group, has commissioned the initial 3 GW production line at its planned 6 GW N-type TOPCon solar cell manufacturing facility in Butibori, Nagpur.
It is currently ramping up the remaining 3 GW of on-site capacity as part of the company's expansion in domestic solar manufacturing.
The Nagpur facility in Maharashtra uses n-type TOPCon technology, with the manufacturer claiming cell efficiencies of up to 25.5% under standard test conditions. The production lines feature 16-busbar and 18-busbar cell architectures to improve power density, reliability, and energy yield.
The Nagpur solar cell factory forms part of Avaada Electro's broader manufacturing expansion. The company currently operates 8.5 GW of n-type TOPCon glass-to-glass solar module capacity across Nagpur and Dadri and plans to increase this to 13.6 GW by adding an additional 5.1 GW.
Avaada is also planning a further 6 GW solar cell facility in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, which would increase its total solar cell manufacturing capacity to 12 GW.
Additionally, as part of its vertical integration plans, it targets 3 GW of ingot and wafer manufacturing capacity in Nagpur. In April 2026, the company secured the regulatory approval to launch an initial public offering (IPO) to raise up to INR 10,000 crore (see India Solar PV News Snippets).
According to the company, the integrated manufacturing complex is designed to improve supply chain resilience, reduce logistics costs, and increase localization across the solar value chain.
Vineet Mittal, Chairman and Whole-Time Director of Avaada Electro Limited, said the Nagpur facility supports India's efforts to strengthen domestic manufacturing and reduce reliance on imports.
Avaada Group said it has a renewable energy portfolio of more than 17.7 GW, including over 7.2 GW in operation and around 10.5 GW under construction. The group is also active in green hydrogen, energy storage, and pumped storage.
