Key Takeaways
  • Boviet Solar has commissioned its 1st solar module manufacturing factory in the US

  • The North Carolina-located fab has an annual nameplate production capacity of 2 GW

  • It will be followed by a 2 GW solar cell production facility planned for 2026

Vietnam-based solar module manufacturer Boviet Solar has commissioned its maiden US solar module production fab with 2 GW annual nameplate capacity. The module factory has come up in Greenville, Pitt County, North Carolina.

The $294 million factory will produce its high-performance Gamma Series Monofacial and Vega Series Bifacial modules using advanced PERC and n-type solar cell technology. These will cater to all applications, namely the residential, commercial and industrial (C&I), and utility-scale segments.

“This facility allows us to manufacture high-performance PV modules on American soil, strengthening domestic clean energy supply chains and making meaningful contributions to North American energy independence and economic growth,” said General Manager of Boviet Solar USA Manufacturing Operation, Marco Marques.

Boviet said this completes phase 1 of its US solar manufacturing plans. It will be followed by a 2 GW high-efficiency solar cell manufacturing facility under phase 2 that will begin operation in H2 2026. The latter will be spread on a nearly 600,000 sq. ft. facility, with the company incurring an additional $100 million (see Boviet Solar’s 2 GW US Module Factory To Come Online In H1 2025).

Boviet says its manufacturing facilities in both the US and Vietnam feature an annual cell and module capacity of 3 GW. With its US manufacturing, Boviet bypasses trade risks to access this market while tapping into the financial incentives promised under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

The US Department of Commerce has proposed 77.12% antidumping and 230.66% countervailing duties on Boviet Solar’s products entering the US from its Vietnam factory (see US Solar Imports From Cambodia Hit Hardest With Final AD/CVD Duties).
