13.21 GW of new PV installed capacity in Q1/2022, says NEA: China’s National Energy Administration (NEA) released the national power industry statistics from January to March 2022. As per the stats, as of the end of March, the national installed capacity of power generation was about 2.40 billion kW, a year-on-year increase of 7.8%. From January to March, the newly installed solar power generation capacity was 13.21 GW, a year-on-year increase of 147.8%. In a recent TaiyangNews Webinar on Solar Demand, Supply and Prices in 2022, Chinese market research company Gessey said it expects China to install 77 GW of solar in 2022 (see European Solar Developments 2022).
Autowell wins monocrystal furnace procurement project: Automation equipment manufacturer Autowell Technology announced that its holding subsidiary Wuxi Songci Electromechanical has won the bid for a 1,600 MonoCrystal Furnace Procurement project of Yuze Semiconductor (Yunnan) Co., Ltd. The project value is about RMB 300 million ($46.18 million) (tax included). In the first quarter of 2022, Autowell has achieved an operating income of RMB 625 million (see China PV News Snippets).
Golden Glass delivers first batch of 210mm HJT half cells: The first batch of Golden Glass’ 210mm format heterojunction half-cells has been delivered. Since February, the entire production line of the Golden Glass’ HJT line has been connected and operated, and the results of commissioning and trial production have continued to break through. From the production of the first batch of 210 half-heterojunction cells in March, to the first production of heterojunction cells in early April, the average conversion efficiency has touched 24.28%, and the highest conversion efficiency has exceeded 24.5%, Golden Glass said.
Ancai Hi-Tech PV glass furnace ignited: Manufacturer and seller of glass products Ancai Hi-Tech announced the ignition of the production line of its holding subsidiary, Xuchang Ancai. The PV glass production line has the ability to produce ultra-thin and large-sized photovoltaic glass and has an annual output capability of 48 million m2. The project also carries the ability to meet the needs of photovoltaic modules such as 182mm and 210mm, and conform to the development trend of large-scale photovoltaic modules, the company said.
GCL Technology releases Q1/2022 report: GCL Technology Holdings Limited released its first quarter report for the year 2022 and it showed that the company has achieved an operating income of RMB 6.99 billion ($1.08 billion). The photovoltaic materials segment has achieved a revenue of approximately RMB 6.68 billion ($1.03 billion), with a comprehensive gross profit margin of approximately 46%. At the end of Q1/2022, the Group’s annual production capacity of rod silicon, granular silicon and wafers were about 45,000 tons, 30,000 tons and 50 GW, respectively.
