TCL's 100,000 tons granular silicon project; PowerChina's 55 MW solar hybrid Congo project; Trina Solar's 670W modules for PetroChina project; Autowell signs sales contract to sell 160-type single crystal furnace.

100,000 tons granular silicon project of TCL: TCL Technology says its subsidiary Tianjin Silica Material Technology has signed a joint venture (JV) agreement with Jiangsu Zhongneng Silicon Industry Technology Development to establish a project of 100,000 tons of granular silicon and silicon-based materials. The JV company will be called Inner Mongolia Xinhua with a registered capital of RMB 4.5 billion. Tianjin Silica will hold a 40% stake in the JV.

At the same time, Tianjin Silica said it intends to cooperate with Jiangsu Xinhua Semiconductor Technology and Inner Mongolia Xinhua for a 10,000 tons electronic-grade polysilicon project. Through these co-operations, Tianjin Silica expects to leverage the growing market demand for polysilicon. It says this is conducive to realizing the coordinated cost reduction of the industrial chain strategy and strengthen the stability of the supply chain.

PowerChina's PV and waste-to-energy project in Congo: PowerChina has signed its 1st contract for a solar PV and waste-to-energy power generation project in Congo's capital Brazzaville. It says the project is the 1st hybrid power generation new energy project in Congo. The PV project will have 55 MW capacity with energy storage, while the waste-to-energy will have a daily waste treatment capacity of 500 tons. On completion, the hybrid project is expected to greatly reduce the amount of garbage in the capital of the African nation and the special economic zone (SEZ) where the project is located. For PowerChina, the project strengthens its African footprint.

Trina modules for PetroChina project: Trina Solar has supplied its 210 series Supreme 670W ultra high power modules for PetroChina's 1st water surface photovoltaic demonstration project. The 18.73 MW Daqing Oilfield Spark Water Surface Photovoltaic Demonstration Project was grid connected in over 4 months from the time construction started. It is expected to generate an average of 27.5 million kWh clean energy.

Autowell sells crystal furnace: Autowell Technology has announced its subsidiary Wuxi Songci Electromechanical has signed a sales contract for 160-type single crystal furnace to Xinjiang Central Hesheng Silicon Industry worth RMB 130 million.
