Xinrui Optoelectronics TOPCon & HJT cell facility starts construction; Qingdao Gaoce Technology wins 100 slicers order from LONGi; Inno Laser’s TOPCon direct doping equipment receives order; GCL Integration forecasts growth in 2022; China’s total output of PV rolled glass in 2022 over 16 million tons.

Construction begins for Xinrui Optoelectronics TOPCon & HJT cell facility: Electrical machinery and equipment manufacturer Xinrui Optoelectronics, said via WeChat that its new high-efficiency photovoltaic cell facility has begun construction. Spread across 436 mu in Gaoyou City, the total investment for the facility will be RMB 10 billion ($1.48 billion). Once fully operation, it will have an annual output of 12 GW high-efficiency TOPCon and HJT photovoltaic cells.

Gaoce wins 100 slicers order from LONGi: Over a WeChat communication, wire cutting machine producer Qingdao Gaoce Technology said that it has won the order for 100 slicers from Chinese vertically integrated solar PV company, LONGi. This is for LONGi’s facility based in Ordos. The world’s largest wafer manufacturer, LONGi recently announced  massive expansion plans for this segment (see LONGi Announces 100 GW Solar Wafer Project)

Meanwhile, at the TaiyangNews Reliable PV Module Design Virtual Conference that took place on 14 December 2022, Dongxia Ni, Senior Product Manager LONGi Solar shared the world leading solar company’s strategy to look at solar modules from a complete lifecycle angle (see How LONGi Provides Lifecycle Quality Module Solutions).

Inno Laser’s TOPCon direct doping equipment receives an order: Inno Laser, producer and seller of lasers in the field of micro-processing, and customized micromachining solution provider, said via WeChat that it has received the first batch of orders for its TOPCon laser SE direct doping equipment. This implies that the market has recognized the potential of its QuaPulseTM technology. It was in 2022 that the company developed the QuaPulseTM laser space-time modulation technology and officially launched the mass production prototype of TOPCon laser SE direct doping equipment.

GCL Integration forecasts growth in 2022: Releasing its 2022 annual performance forecast, Chinese solar PV cell and module manufacturer GCL Integration said that during the reporting period, the company expects to achieve:

  • Revenue of RMB 7.65 billion to RMB 8.65 billion ($1.13 billion to $1.28 billion), a year-on-year increase of 62.7% to 84%
  • Net profit ranging from RMB 36.8 million to RMB 55 million ($5.46 million to $8.16 million), an increase of 101.86%-102.77% over the same period of the previous year, turning losses into profits

The main reasons for the company’s growth can be attributed to several factors, including its module base in Hefei achieving full production capacity of 15 GW of high-efficiency and large-size modules, it said. Moreover, the company’s overall large-size module production capacity and output also increased significantly year-on-year.

China’s 2022 cumulative output of PV rolled glass at 16.06 million tons: China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced on its website that the cumulative output of photovoltaic rolled glass in 2022 was 16.06 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 53.6%. As far as production capacity and output are concerned, there were 40 photovoltaic rolling glass production enterprises nationwide, with a total of 128 kilns and 442 production lines, with a capacity of 84,000 tons/day. And the average price of 2mm and 3.2mm photovoltaic rolled glass was RMB 20.8/m2 ($3.08/m2) and RMB 27/m2 ($4/m2) respectively, down by 11.9% and 6.1% year-on-year, the announcement said.
