Flat Glass Group partners with JinkoSolar; TCL Zhonghuan’s operating income at RMB 17-18 billion in Q1/2023; Huadian module tender results out; Canadian Solar 10 GW TOPCon facility commissioned; Gaoce’s to invest in 50 GW solar wafer slicing facility.

Flat Glass and JinkoSolar sign cooperation deal: Chinese supplier of solar PV glass Flat Glass Group announced that it has signed a strategic agreement with module supplier JinkoSolar. Both the companies reviewed their cooperation history and discussed the way forward. They will now be focusing on group procurement, photovoltaic market expansion, and industrial chain coordination with a view to maximize resource endowment and technical capabilities. TCL Zhonghuan releases Q1/2023 operating data: Announcing its operating data for the first quarter of 2023, leading solar wafer supplier TCL Zhonghuan said that it has realized an operating income of about RMB 17 to RMB 18 billion ($2.4 to $2.6 billion), a year-on-year increase of about 27%-35%; and a net profit of about RMB 2.2 to RMB 2.4 billion ($0.32 to $0.35 billion), a year-on-year increase of about 68%-83%. Overall, the company said that the tight supply of upstream raw materials in the global photovoltaic market has been gradually easing, along with improvement in installed capacities. Meanwhile, in February this year, TCL Zhonghhuan had announced its plans to increase G12 silicon wafer production capacity (See China PV News Snippets)

Huadian announces module tender results: State-owned power generation enterprise China Huadian Corporation Ltd has released its 2.23 GW solar module tender results, local media reports said. Five companies were shortlisted and here are the details:

  • Tongwei is expected to win about 643 MW with a bidding price of RMB 1.6/W ($0.23/W)
  • Chint is expected to win 642 MW and 414 MW with bidding price of RMB 1.71/W ($0.25/W) and RMB 1.69/W ($0.25/W)
  • Jinko is expected to win 532 MW with bidding price of RMB 1.64/W ($0.24/W)

Canadian Solar 10 GW TOPCon facility commissioned: Solar power company Canadian Solar said via WeChat that its Suqian TOPCon solar cell facility has been commissioned. With a capacity of 10 GW solar modules and 10 GW solar cells, this facility is expected to generate a sales of RMB 23 billion ($3.3 billion) on completion. By the first quarter next year, Canadian Solar is expected to have ingot capacity of 50 GW; wafer capacity of 50 GW; cell capacity of 69 GW and module capacity of 75 GW.

Gaoce’s to invest in 50 GW solar wafer slicing facility in Sichuan: As per local reports, wire cutting machine producer Qingdao Gaoce will be building a 50 GW large-sized solar wafer slicing facility in Sichuan. Phase 1 will be of 25 GW and will be put into operation by 2024, while Phase 2, again of 25 GW will be launched six months after the commissioning of Phase 1.
