Phase I Of JA Solar’s 10 GW Qujing Phase III Solar Cell Project Online & More From Zhongke, Shijing, Guohua, Grand Sunergy

Initial phase of JA Solar’s Qujing phase III cell project online; Zhongke Gaoyou’s TOPCon cell manufacturing project secured funding; Suzhou Shijing to purchase cell equipment from SC New Energy; Guohua Capital’s offshore PV plans; Grand Sunergy wants big HJT industrial base.

JA solar’s Qujing manufacturing project update: The first phase of the Qujing Phase III project of JA Solar with an annual output of 10 GW of high-efficiency solar cells has rolled off the production line. The company began constructing the project in July 2022. With this the company now boasts of 40 GW monocrystalline silicon ingots, 40 GW wafers and 23 GW solar cells in the National Qujing Economic and Technological Development Zone. According to the latter, JA Solar has so far successively deployed 4 phases of projects in Qujing with a cumulative investment of RMB 17.3 billion and realize an output worth RMB 50 billion on completion. Recently, JA Solar said it plans to raise RMB 8.96 billion to support 45 GW manufacturing capacity expansion, including for 10 GW cell and 5 GW module project in Qujing (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

RMB 80 million for Zhongke Gaoyou’s TOPCon cell project: Zhongke Gaoyou has entered an investment agreement with the Yangzhou Science and Technology Fund under the National Finance Group for its n-type TOPCon cell manufacturing project. The fund will invest RMB 80 million to support the construction of the 8 GW project, reported local media.

Shijing and SC New Energy sign deal: Suzhou Shijing Technology has signed up to receive high efficiency solar cell production equipment from SC New Energy Technology. It signed the contract through a subsidiary called Shijing Photoenergy. The deal is worth RMB 769.5 million. Shijing is building a 24 GW high efficiency n-type monocrystalline TOPCon solar cell project in Ningguo where this equipment will be used.

Financing for GW-scale offshore PV power plant: Investment firm Guohua Capital has signed a project cooperation agreement with Dongying Ocean Development and Fisheries Bureau for its 1 GW offshore solar PV power plant project. The HG14 project is expected to be built for RMB 8 billion with undersea cables used to deliver power onshore. Energy storage is also part of the project plan. Guohua said it is committed to building the first batch of pile-based offshore solar PV model projects in China.

Big HJT production plans from Grand Sunergy: Grand Sunergy or Guosheng Energy plans to develop a new energy project, Grand Double Carbon Industrial Park in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The RMB 21.8 billion project is envisioned to host n-type crystal ingot, ultra-thin silicon wafers, high efficiency heterojunction (HJT) cells, HJT modules, energy storage, EPE films, frames, and the like. Grand Sunergy said it will be the 1st PV cell and module whole industry chain project in Bayannaoer city. Local reports claim that Grand Sunergy aims to invest RMB 40 billion to build 30 GW solar cells, 30 GW modules and related industrial chain projects nationally during the 14th Five-Year Plan.
