As GoodWe begins R&D smart building project, CGN reports increase in solar plant output, State Power Investment and Elion Group partner for energy and ecological industry development, China Three Gorges Corporation begins its Yangtze River protection project, and NEA issues Implementation Opinions.

GoodWe begins R&D building project: PV inverter and energy storage solutions manufacturer GoodWe, in a press release, said it recently held the ground-breaking ceremony of its smart energy R&D building project in Suzhou. The R&D project with an investment of RMB 725 million ($113.78 million) will take the lead in applying new products and technologies such as smart energy, photovoltaic curtain walls, and energy storage to create green and low-carbon buildings. Last year, GoodWe had formally joined the 600W+ photovoltaic open innovation ecological alliance (see China PV News Snippets: GoodWe, Trina, JinkoSolar)

CGN solar output in 2021 up by 16.7% China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN)announced that the power generation of the company and its subsidiaries on a consolidated basis amounted to 1,416.8 GWh for the month of December 2021, representing an increase of 16.0% compared with the corresponding period of 2020. Its wind output increased by 47.2%, while the solar projects increased by 14.4%. The Group’s cumulative power generation output for the 12 months ended December 31, 2021, was approximately 18,200 GWh, an increase of 31.4% over the same period in 2020, including wind power output up by 71.2% and solar up by 16.7%

China Three Gorges’s 750 MW PV & wind project begins: As per a PV Men report, phase-1 of China Three Gorges Corporation’s Yangtze River protection project for 2022 has officially begun. The Yangtze River Protection and Photovoltaic model is being implemented in cities along the river, with the aim of finding a combination of clean energy and ecological and environmental protection business and creating a ‘green resource recycling’ system. The project initially plans a 750 MW wind power & photovoltaic project.

NEA releases notice on Implementation Opinions: The National Energy Administration (NEA) has issued its ‘Implementation Opinions’ on deepening the reform of power distribution, regulating services, and optimizing the business environment in the energy sector. The document requires power grid companies to provide grid access and grid interconnection services for projects such as new energy, distributed energy, new energy storage, microgrids and incremental distribution networks. At the same time, the document mentions that it is necessary to promote transactions of distributed power generation and implement relevant price policies.
