2020 grid parity solar and wind projects announced: The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has announced the list of solar and wind grid-parity projects for the year 2020. This calculates to a total of 33 GW for solar, 103% more than selected in 2019. These projects need to come online by the end of 2021. As for wind, the list adds up to 11.4 GW, 153% more than those selected in 2019 in this category that need to be completed by the end of 2022.

Canadian Solar constructing 10 MW in Germany: Chinese PV manufacturer Canadian Solar has broken ground on a 10 MW solar PV facility in Germany as its turnkey solutions provider for project owner GS Solar GmbH & Co. KG. Project location is next to the highway A20 Groß Siemz, near the city Schönberg in the Northern German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. For this project, Canadian Solar will deploy 22,900 mono PERC modules. It plans to achieve grid connection in October 2020 and expects full ramp up to generate close to 10 GWh annually. Canadian Solar will provide operations and maintenance services as well.

18 manufacturers respond to China Huaneng call: China Huaneng Group has attracted interest from 18 solar PV module manufacturers in response to its call to procure 5 GW worth of solar PV module capacity (see China PV News Snippets: JA Solar, Sungrow). The tender is divided into 4 bidding sections and each section is further broken down into 4 types basis different power levels. Of these, the company expects 2.5 GW to be supplied by the end of 2020, and the other 2.5 GW latest by June 30, 2021. The average bid for this tender has been determined to be RMB 1.58 ($0.23) per W and the highest bid of RMB 1.721 ($0.25) per W, as per Polaris Solar PV Reuters.

Jinergy grid connects 200 MW project: Jinneng Clean Energy’s (Jinergy) new 200 MW solar PV capacity has been grid connected in Shanxi, reported PV Men news portal. It was developed in form of 2 projects of 100 MW each in Tunliu district and in Fanshi county. Both the projects were commissioned by Jinergy in June 2020 on mountainous terrain along with Hefei Sunshine New Energy Technology. This 200 MW takes Jinergy’s cumulative installed solar PV capacity to 795 MW.

GCL System Integration to raise proceeds through shares: GCL System Integration Technology has secured an approval to its request for non-public issuance of stock from the review committee of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), though it still awaits a written approval. According to a local media report, the company plans to invest RMB 2.877 billion ($415 million) in large-size recycled wafer manufacturing aiming for annual output of 600,000 8-inch sized wafers and 3 million pieces of 12-inch sized recycled wafers.
