16 GW PV In China during H8/2020: Between January 2020 and August 2020, China installed new PV capacity of about 16 GW, reported Polaris Solar Photovoltaic Network. Their estimate says between July 2020 and August 2020 alone new additions amounted to 4.5 GW – 3 GW in July 2020 and 1.5 GW in August 2020. During the reporting period, from January to August 2020, large scale solar PV capacity in China was about 8.9 GW and distributed solar added 7.2 GW, with July 2020 alone contributing 3 GW in total thanks to an installation rush for projects that got carried to 2020 from last year.

This added to 11.52 GW installed in the first 2 quarters of 2020 takes the total installations till the end of August 2020 to about 16 GW (see NEA: China Installed 11.52 GW Solar PV In H1/2020).

ReneSola enters joint venture for solar in Germany: ReneSola has joined hands with German solar project developer Vodasun to co-develop and market ready-to-build (RTB) ground mounted solar projects in Germany through a 50:50 joint venture. The starting project portfolio of the joint venture will be 50 to 100 MW capacity, with the same amount aimed to be developed annually. "The JV will benefit both companies by building a more robust project portfolio while leveraging our know-how and experience in project development. Additionally, we believe the JV will produce cost synergies to enhance profitability as we navigate the challenging macro environment," said ReneSola European Region CEO Josef Kastner.

Strategic partnership between LONGi & Datang: LONGi Green Energy Technology has entered a strategic cooperation agreement with state-owned power generator China Datang Group to jointly promote large scale development and application of clean energy globally, while accelerating the transformation and upgradation of the existing energy infrastructure, according to PV Time.
