Coal mining company entering solar manufacturing: Shanxi Coal International Energy Group is investing in a joint venture to develop 10 GW of high efficiency heterojunction (HJT) solar cell manufacturing capacity with 3 GW planned under phase I. Bloomberg stated that the 3 GW factory will be developed for an investment of RMB 3.19 billion ($461 million). Shanxi Coal will lead the joint venture to be floated along with Huzhou Junhua Siyue Equity Investment Partnership and Ningbo Qixian Enterprise Management Consulting Co., Ltd. The joint venture company will be set up for a registered capital of RMB 1 billion ($144 million).

Zhongli Group suffered RMB 260 million loss in H1/2020: Solar module supplier Zhongli Group suffered a net loss of RMB 260 million ($37.6 million) during H1/2020 with its operating income down 34.11% to RMB 3.78 billion ($547 million) due to COVID-19 delaying its shipments. Logistical challenges during the pandemic in the first 2 quarters delayed its module shipment delivery schedule. At the same time, capital constraints were also a challenge for the company. Its sold 539.43 MW PV modules during the period, reflecting a drop of 31.51% over last year. Polaris Solar Photovoltaic Network said the company suffered also because of no supply of modules for commercial projects and overall decline in solar PV sector.

Latest RE subsidy projects list by State Grid out: The State Grid New Energy Cloud came out with a list of renewable energy power generation subsidy projects representing a total capacity of 8.27 GW in the form of 215 projects. This comprises 142 MW solar power projects, accounting for 6.12 GW, 15 wind power projects represent 943.4 MW and 58 biomass projects with a total capacity of 1.2 GW, reported PV Men.
