SC New Energy's G12-132 HJT module averages 720.65 W power; Sofar Solar IPO approved; BYD pursuing perovskite cell technology; Suzhou Good-Ark paste shipments reach new high; Inner Mongolia targets 21.4 GW solar projects by 2025.

S.C New Energy's HJT module hits 720.65 W: Solar PV equipment manufacturer S.C New Energy Technology has announced that its G12-132 heterojunction (HJT) module has reached an average power of 720.65 W, as certified by TÜV SÜD. The company said that the average conversion efficiency for this module is 23.20%. It further said that the cells of this module have all been internally sourced from the company's HJT cell line and have an average cell efficiency of 25.1%. The bifacial cell is equipped with 973/9010 ITO, and the metallization uses conventional screen-printing pure silver 12BB, with the silver consumption restricted to below 110 mg. The company says that it expects the power of G12-132 modules to average at 725 W and a maximum of 730 W by the end of the year. Last month, S.C New Energy Technology announced that it has shipped 600 MW HJT solar cell line to an unnamed PV manufacturer (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Sofar Solar IPO application passes review: Chinese media has reported that according to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange website, the review status of Sofar Solar has been changed to 'approved' by the listing committee. The company had submitted a prospectus for its initial public offering (IPO) and listing on the GEM on November 29, 2022. According to its prospectus, Sofar Solar will issue 93 million shares to raise RMB 3.512 billion ($482.2 million), and plans to use the funds raised for its energy storage system (ESS) facility, product R&D and manufacturing, R&D center upgrade, marketing network and supplementary working capital. BYD pursuing perovskite cell technology: Well-known electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has said in an institutional survey that it has a professional solar technology R&D team in place. It says that it continues to increase investment in R&D, and has established a photovoltaic (PV) technology research institute. BYD says that its R&D team is striving to break past test records in terms of cell efficiency and module efficiency. The company says that it has pursued PERC cell technology in the past to move to n-type TOPCon and HJT, and is now actively deploying perovskite cell technology as PV technology continues to be iteratively updated.

Suzhou Good-Ark's monthly paste shipments exceed 10 tons: Semiconductor manufacturer Suzhou Good-Ark has announced that its monthly shipments of PERC, TOPCon, and HJT pastes have exceeded 10 tons for the 1st time. The company said that its silver-coated copper pastes started to see an increase in volume in Q2 2023, accounting for more than 50% of HJT silver paste shipments by the end of Q3 2023. The company also said that it has achieved this while gradually lowering the silver content in the paste. Good-Ark expects its Q4 2023 n-type silver paste shipments to increase significantly from the present levels.

Inner Mongolia targets 21.4 GW solar projects by 2025: The People's Government of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has released an action plan to control desertification by installing 21.4 GW of solar power plants in the region. These power plants will be installed over an area of 640,000 acres. The region has seen rapid deployment of PV desert control in recent years, with solar plants being built in Kubuqi, Ulanbu and deserts. By 2030, the region targets total installed capacity of 89 GW, covering an area of approximately 2.3 million acres.
