Tongwei & Memodo sign 300 MW module supply agreement; Aiko forecasts up to 68.43% decrease in FY2023 net profits; QW Solar's HJT module hits 742.7 W power; Hoshine's 100,000-ton 1st production line achieves mass production; Trina commemorates 28th World Wetlands Day.

Tongwei Solar signs 300 MW module supply agreement with Memodo: Integrated solar PV manufacturer Tongwei Solar has announced that it has signed a 300 MW module supply agreement with Memodo. Memodo is a European distributor of photovoltaic (PV) products, energy storage systems (ESS), charging stations, and heating systems, with a strong business presence in the Czech Republic, Italy, and the Netherlands etc. The signing took place during the recent European launch of Tongwei's new G12R series modules in Germany. Tongwei said that this deal will benefit European customers, while helping it earn more global recognition.

Aiko Solar forecasts up to 68.43% decrease in FY2023 net profits: Solar cell and module manufacturer Aiko Solar has forecast its FY2023 net profit to range between RMB 735 million ($102.4 million) and RMB 775 million ($107.9 million). This represents a Year-on-Year (YoY) decrease of 66.71% to 68.43%. The company cites an increase in management expenses, increased competition, pricing pressure, the provision for fixed asset impairment and inventory depreciation, etc. as the reasons for the decrease in net profits for FY2023.

Aiko Solar recently signed a deal to supply 200 MW of high bifacial ratio ABC modules to INSELL (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

QW Solar's HJT module achieves 742.7 W Power: Solar module manufacturer QW Solar Technology has announced that its Whale XII series HJT module has achieved a maximum power of 742.7 W. It says that the dual-glass 132 210 mm cell module developed in-house has been tested and certified by TÜV Süd. The company also said that its Super Light Conversion Film has passed rigorous testing, yielding a power gain of up to 1.9%. It emphasized that the optimization of QE curves and glass transmittance matching has provided an additional power gain of 0.5%.

QW Solar recently announced a strategic cooperation agreement with Lei Shing Hong Energy for the year 2024 (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Hoshine's 1st 100,000-ton high-purity polysilicon production line achieves mass production: Silicon supplier Hoshine Silicon Industry has announced that its 1st 100,000-ton production line of the 200,000-ton polysilicon fab has achieved mass production. The company says the high-purity polysilicon produced at the facility meets the material needs of downstream n-type cells. A second 100,000-ton production line is said to be in the final stages and is preparing for a joint mass production trial run this month.

Trina Solar commemorates 28th World Wetlands Day: Solar module maker Trina Solar has commemorated the 28th World Wetlands Day on February 2, 2024, by emphasizing its commitment to wetland ecology restoration and sustainable habitats. It lists its multiple wetlands initiatives, namely:

  • The 100 MW fishery PV project in the saline wetlands in Houzhen, Shandong province
  • An ongoing 150 MW fishery PV project transforming the saline wetlands of Yangkou, less than 40 kilometers away from Houzhen
  • The 70 MW fishery PV project in Cangzhou City, supporting hydroponic agriculture and optimizing the local energy structure.
  • The company's crucial role in the 100 MW PV project in Haiyan Town, overcoming challenges on the South China Sea coast

Trina Solar says that its efforts align with its mission of "Solar Energy for All," focusing on tailored smart energy solutions for large-scale wetland applications to enhance ecology and stimulate economic development in underdeveloped regions.
