Maxwell to build HJT perovskite tandem cell equipment facility: Solar production equipment maker Maxwell has held the groundbreaking ceremony for its semiconductor equipment facility, located in Wujiang District, Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. The company is investing about RMB 5.4 billion ($750.16 million) in the facility focused on research and manufacturing of next-generation HJT perovskite tandem cells. The construction is scheduled to be completed within 2 years.

In November 2023, renowned scientific journal Nature Energy published results from the latest research on high-efficiency silicon HJT cells from Maxwell (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

GoodWe plans RMB 5-10 million share repurchase: Solar inverter and ESS manufacturer GoodWe has announced its plans to repurchase its shares. It plans to use its own funds, not less than RMB 5 million ($695,000) and not exceeding RMB 10 million ($1.39 million), for the repurchase. The shares will be repurchased through centralized bidding transactions, within 12 months from the date of gaining approval from its board of directors.

It also said that this will safeguard the interests of investors, enhance investor confidence, and promote the company's long-term development.

In December 2023, GOODWE released the Tianji Series PV sunshade systems (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Dunhuang 120 MW PV power generation project with Vanguard 2P Trackers grid-connected: TrinaTracker, the tracker manufacturing arm of Trina Solar, has announced that the Dunhuang solar thermal + 120 MW solar power generation project has been grid-connected. The project, located in the Andun Basin, uses trackers exclusively supplied by TrinaTracker. It covers an area of approximately 3,594 acres, with a construction capacity of 120 MW, and a total of 2,502 sets of Vanguard-2P trackers. Once fully operational, it is expected to produce 290 GWh of electricity on average every year, saving 102,300 tons of standard coal and reducing CO2 emissions by 276,800 tons.

Jiayu Group signs PV module purchase deal: Jiayu Group has announced that it has signed a PV module procurement contract with Weixian Shangshi Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. According to the contract, valued at RMB 242.42 million ($33.7 million), Jiayu Group will supply 545 W glass-glass PV modules to Weixian Shangshi Construction Engineering.

Ganyue New Material's starts construction on Phase III of 1,200-ton PV glass facility: PV glass manufacturer Ganyue New Material has announced the groundbreaking for phase III of its 1,200-ton solar glass facility. The facility, located in Dinnan County, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, will consist of a 1,200 t/d PV glass kiln and 6 PV rolling glass production lines, which will be built in 3 phases. It is scheduled to start production in December 2024.
