JTPV ranks 4th in solar cell shipments and 1st for TOPCon: InfoLink Consulting has ranked JTPV as the 4th largest solar cell manufacturer globally by shipment volume. In 2023, JTPV's cumulative solar cell shipments reached 29.96 GW, increasing 179.43% YoY. In terms of TOPCon cell shipments in 2023, JTPV was ranked at the top, contributing 20.58 GW of shipments out of a cumulative 35 GW for the industry. JTPV says that it aims to sustain its leadership in the industry by expanding into overseas markets, bolstering its product portfolio, and fostering collaborations for global green energy initiatives.
The company says its share of overseas sales went from 0% to 4.75% in 2023. It adds that it has obtained n-type solar cell certifications for all key overseas customers, including India, Turkey, Brazil, Canada and Europe, among others.
Canadian Solar FY2023 net profits up 34.6%: Solar PV manufacturer Canadian Solar has reported an operating income of RMB 51.3 billion ($7.1 billion) for FY2023, up 7.94% YoY. For the period, the company reported RMB 2.9 billion ($403.3 million) of net income, which increased 34.61% YoY. The company cites strong market demand, the strength of its international operations, brands and channels as the drivers behind its growth in the period. It also said that it continues to tap into its late-mover advantage on n-type technology, along with its energy storage business.
Canadian Solar recently announced its plans to invest RMB 9.63 billion ($1.34 billion) in a wafer-cell-module manufacturing facility in Huai'an City (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
10 entities to establish Silicon PV Industry Innovation Center in Sichuan: The Sichuan Provincial Development and Reform Commission has approved a proposal to establish the Sichuan Silicon Photovoltaic Industry Innovation Center in Leshan City. This effort will be led by Tongwei, along with CYBRID and 8 other enterprises and institutions. Tongwei's subsidiary Sichuan Yongxiang will undertake tasks such as advancing the engineering and industrialization trials and validations of high-purity silicon and other advanced technologies.
The innovation center is scheduled to commence operations by 2026. It will work on more than 10 key core technologies in the preparation of high-purity silicon for efficient energy saving, obtaining over 50 patents of independent intellectual property rights, and translating more than 15 results of independent innovation.
LONGi launches Hi-MO X6 dual-glass module: Vertically integrated solar manufacturer LONGi has officially unveiled its first Hi-MO X6 dual-glass module based on HPBC technology. LONGi says the modules are suitable for use in high-temperature and high-humidity environments, such as cement roofs, PV carports, and sunrooms. The modules feature a power degradation of 0.89% at 85 °C and 85% humidity, far less than the IEC industry standard of 5%. The degradation is cited as 1% for the 1st year and 0.35 % per year in subsequent years. Offered with a 30-year power warranty, the company claims 88.85% of power output at the end of 30 years.
LONGi, in collaboration with Jiangsu University of Science and Technology and Australia Curtin University, has developed what it calls the world's first highly flexible, high-power-to-weight-ratio silicon heterojunction solar cells (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
DKEM FY2023 revenues up 155%: Advanced technology company DKEM has reported a 154.94% YoY increase in its FY2023 revenues, which came in at RMB 9.603 billion ($1.33 billion). It reported a net profit of RMB 386 million ($53.62 million) for the year. The company attributed its growth to the strong global PV market demand and the rapid adoption of n-type cells.
During the period, DKEM reported PV silver paste sales of 1,713.62 tons, an increase of 137.89% YoY. Sales of silver paste specific to n-type TOPCon cells were 1,008.48 tons, accounting for 58.85% of total PV silver paste sales. The company said that it will continue to increase product technology research and development and market development efforts for its silver pastes.
