JA Solar delivers 1st batch n-type modules to SK E&S: Vertically integrated solar module manufacturer JA Solar has announced that it has delivered the 1st batch of modules (5.2 MW) to SK E&S. The company had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) agreement with the SK Group subsidiary to supply 200 MW of its n-type DeepBlue 4.0 series modules. This is the company's 1st collaboration with the SK Group, the South Korean conglomerate.
These modules measure 2465 mm x 1134 mm (182) and consist of 72 cells, and are based on the company's Bycium+ passivated contact technology. The modules are rated for 635 W of power with a module efficiency of 22.8%.

100 MW agrivoltaic project with Trina's Vertex N 720W modules grid-connected: Solar module manufacturer Trina Solar has announced that a 100 MW agrivoltaic farming project powered by its Vertex N 720W series modules has been grid-connected. The farm is located in Wanning, Hainan Province, is expected to produce 133 GWh annually. It is said to be one of the key agrivoltaic projects in Wanning, with about 33 hectares of vegetable greenhouses built beneath the solar panels.
The company says that it has upgraded its i-TOPCon technology to improve its cell efficiency by 0.3% through laser-induced firing. The upgraded Vertex N 720W series modules offer efficiency of up to 23.2%. Trina Solar recently signed a cell purchase framework agreement with Lunisolar for the purchase of 1.3 billion 210 TOPCon bifacial solar cells between 2024 and 2026 (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
Astronergy to supply 1,800 MW TOPCon modules to UAE: PV module manufacturer Astronergy has announced that it will supply 1,800 MW of its ASTRO N5 n-type TOPCon PV modules for the sixth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (MBR) Solar Park in Dubai. Having been awarded the supply contract for the DEWA VI project in October 2023, the company said that a delegation of Masdar, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and Indian EPC Larsen & Toubro (L&T) visited its Haining Manufacturing Base to discuss the details of the collaboration. With the 6th phase, the total capacity of the MBR Solar Park, dubbed as one of the largest single-site solar parks in the world, is said to reach 4,660 MW. Astronergy is said to be the sole supplier for DEWA VI.
DEWA and Masdar recently announced that they had secured the financing to implement phase VI of the MBR Solar Park (see Financial Close Achieved For 1.8 GW Dubai Solar Power Plant).
DMEGC Solar gets Top PV Brand award from EUPD Research: DMEGC Solar has announced that it has received the "Top PV Brand Netherlands 2024" award from EUPD Research. The company says that this is its 7th consecutive Top PV Brand award, and has been ranked among Tier 1 module manufacturers by BloombergNEF for 5 consecutive years. In addition, it says that it has gained PVEL's Top Performer recognition for 3 consecutive years. The award was presented at the Solar Solutions 2024 expo held in Amsterdam from March 19th to 21st, 2024. DMEGC Solar showcased its new Infinity RT modules and Green house series modules at the expo.
Binhai Energy to invest in 5 GW solar cell and 10 GW crystal pulling fab: Binhai Energy has announced that its subsidiary Baotou Xuyang New Energy intends to invest in a 5 GW solar cell manufacturing project. Additionally, another of its subsidiaries, Baotou Xuyang Silicon Materials, plans to invest in a 10 GW crystal pulling facility. The 5 GW solar cell fab will involve an investment of RMB 2.050 billion ($284 million), while the 10 GW crystal pulling facility will involve about RMB 1.933 billion ($268.47 million) of investment. Both the facilities are located in Baotou City, Inner Mongolia.
