Hopewind named finalist for The smarter E AWARD 2024; TotalEnergies partners for C&I distributed PV in China; Amptek receives funding for perovskite PV module fab; CHD Inner Mongolia gets 4.1 GW project quota; Sungrow's ESS for China's 1st AC-DC power station.
Hopewind named finalist for The smarter E AWARD 2024: Chinese inverter supplier Hopewind has been named as a finalist for The smarter E AWARD 2024. It has been nominated under the Photovoltaics category for its HSHV385K-G02 inverter. This string inverter for ground-mounted systems offers a nominal power of 385 kW, which achieves a European efficiency level of 98.7% as a result of the SiC semiconductor used. The device stands out thanks to its input current of up to 65 A per MPP tracker, a large temperature tolerance without derating, a competitive price and many other functions such as optional overnight reactive power provision, arc detection and smart I-V curve diagnostics.
Last month, Hopewind reported that its FY2023 revenues increased 33.56% Year-over-Year (YoY) to RMB 3.752 billion ($520.83 million) (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
TotalEnergies to develop C&I distributed PV in China: French energy giant TotalEnergies has signed an agreement with China's Dajia Insurance Group's alternative investment management platform, Dajia Investment Holdings Co., Ltd., and Cathay Capital to jointly invest in the development of commercial and industrial distributed photovoltaic asset portfolios. Dajia Investment will act as a general partner, participating in the Cathay New Energy Infrastructure Fund to co-invest with TotalEnergies. The fund's projects currently cover 18 provinces in China, serving over 200 industrial customers in high-end manufacturing, new materials, and new energy sectors. The fund aims to expand nationwide and expects to increase its installed capacity from the current 500 MW to 1,500 MW by 2028, reaching more international and domestic customers.
Recently, Senegalese drinking water supplier Sen'Eau signed a contract with TotalEnergies to develop 2 solar PV power plants in the country (see Africa Solar PV News Snippets).
Amptek receives angel round financing for perovskite PV module fab: A new perovskite module maker Amptek has received angel round financing led by Guoxin Zhongshu Tongling Science and Technology Innovation Fund. The company plans to use these funds for its perovskite crystalline silicon tandem PV module facility, led by the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Registered in Lingang, Shanghai in April 2023, Amptek has developed perovskite crystalline silicon tandem modules with a conversion efficiency of more than 28%. The company says it has achieved this by breakthrough large-scale perovskite mass production technology. It expects module costs to reduce by about 10% vis-à-vis high-efficiency crystalline silicon modules. Amptek has 2 high-level R&D platforms: Shanghai Prospective R&D Center and Calcium Silicon Tandem Industrialization Technology Demonstration Line.
CHD Inner Mongolia Company gets 4.1 GW project construction quota: CHD Inner Mongolia Company has announced that it has obtained a construction quota of 4.1 GW for the sand control and wind power PV integration project in Alxa League. Led by CHD, the project is touted as the largest wind and PV grid-connected project for the group in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The 4.1 GW development will include 1.345 GW of wind power and 2.755 GW of solar, with 599,600 acres of ecological governance.
Early this year, China Huadian Group commissioned a 50 MW solar power plant, calling it the world's 'highest' altitude PV project (see World's 'Highest' Altitude Solar Power Plant Online).
Sungrow's liquid-cooled ESS for China's first AC-DC integrated power station: China Huaneng Group's Longteng Special Steel 20MW/40MWh user-side energy storage project has been fully connected to the grid. The project deployed 8 sets of 2.5 MW / 5 MWh Sungrow PowerTitan2.0 liquid-cooled energy storage systems (ESS). Sungrow stated that this is China's 1st energy storage power station with an AC-DC integrated design, achieving 2%-3% higher system efficiency than traditional ESS. The PowerTitan2.0 ESS integrates a 5 MWh battery and a 2.5MW PCS into a 20-foot container, changing the traditional "PCS separate cabinet" form. The system boasts industry-leading energy density, significantly reducing land use while enhancing system efficiency, performance, and safety, and meeting the needs of user-side energy storage scenarios above 10 kV.
Last month, Sungrow reported that its FY2023 inverter shipments increased 69% YoY to 130 GW (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
