DAS Solar’s 10 GW solar module fab online: Rolling out the first solar module from the second phase of its 10 GW high-efficiency module facility, solar PV cell and module manufacturer DAS Solar has officially started operations at its Jingshan manufacturing base. Located in Jingshan City, Hubei Province, the manufacturing base includes a 10 GW n-type high-efficiency solar module facility and a 2 GW solar cell production facility, developed in 2 phases. Consisting of 6 module production lines, the company invested RMB 2 billion ($275.29 million) in the first phase that commenced operations in 2023. The company says that it has produced a total of 3.18 GW modules as of the end of 2023. The completion of the first module in the second phase marks the full-scale operation of this manufacturing base. Once both phases are fully up and running, DAS Solar expects the base to generate more than RMB 10 billion ($1.38 billion) in annual revenues.

DAS Solar recently announced that it has received an ‘A’ ranking in PV ModuleTech’s Q2 2024 PV Bankability Ratings Quarterly report (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Trina Solar receives whole-process power measurement control assessment certification: Solar module manufacturer Trina Solar has been awarded the Whole-process Power Measurement Control Assessment Certification for PV module manufacturers by the China General Certification Center (CGC). The evaluation covers various aspects, including but not limited to employee responsibilities and training, standard module production and management, simulator assessment, testing environment evaluation, and power testing method review. Trina Solar stated that it employs intelligent management methods in multiple production stages such as standard board production, workshop on-site monitoring, and control processes, significantly enhancing the accuracy of power testing. It said further that all evaluated metrics met the requirements for the whole-process power measurement control for PV module manufacturers. Trina Solar claims it is one of the first companies to receive this certification.

TaiyangNews Managing Director Michael Schmela spoke to Trina’s Head of Branding and Global Marketing Yunduan Cao at the recent SNEC 2024 (see SNEC Exclusive: Trina Solar Executive Interview).

GCL Si forecasts up to 1.5x revenue growth for H1 2024: GCL Si forecasts its H1 2024 revenues to be between RMB 7.8 billion ($1,073.61 million) and RMB 8.5 billion ($1.17 billion). This would account for an increase of 39.15% to 51.64% over the same period last year. The company expects its net profits to range from RMB 400 million ($55.06 million) to RMB 520 million ($71.57 million), representing a decline of 53.38% to 64.14% year-over-year. GCL Si attributed its positive revenue performance to the significant growth in solar module shipments. However, the steep decline in module prices adversely affected its net profits.

Recently, GCL Si’s Hefei module 0BB module factory was put into production (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Tongwei’s Hefei base secures 4th ISO 14064 certificate: Tongwei Solar’s Hefei manufacturing base has successfully obtained the ISO 14064-1:2018 Greenhouse Gas Verification Certificate issued by the China Classification Society (CCS). The company claims this is the 4th greenhouse gas verification certificate for the Hefei base. The company says the verification covered categories 1 through 6, conducted at the organizational level. The company also emphasized its commitment to climate change through various actions, including joining the United Nations Global Compact, participating in the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and achieving a grade B rating in CDP’s carbon disclosure.

Sungrow plans stock repurchase: Sungrow has announced its intentions to repurchase a portion of its RMB common A shares through centralized bidding transactions for the implementation of employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) or equity incentive plans in the future. The company plans to spend between RMB 500 million ($68.85 million) and RMB 1 billion ($137.70 million) to repurchase about 5.15 million to 10.31 million shares for a repurchase price not exceeding RMB 97.00 per share. This accounts for about 0.25% to 0.50% of the company’s total shares.
