Haitai Solar's Caofeidian base produces 1st 210 series Taihe 2.0 module; G&P Sun Energy's to build HJT module production line in Fujian; Betterial's expansion plans; Tianyishangjia reports positive financial results; CPIA releases June 2023 China PV manufacturing snapshot.

Haitai Solar rolls out 1st 210 n-type TOPCon module from Caofeidian Base: Solar PV manufacturer Haitai Solar has successfully produced the 1st 210 mm TOPCon high-efficiency photovoltaic module from its Caofeidian base. The 210 series Taihe 2.0 bifacial monocrystalline high-efficiency PV module is rated for up to 700 W of power, and features high reliability, better low-light performance, low attenuation, low temperature coefficient, and better anti-LID performance. The base was officially completed and put into operation in September 2022, and has since been focused on the production of high-efficiency PV modules. Recently, Haitai Solar fired its 3 GW PV manufacturing facility in Turpan (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

G&P Sun Energy plans HJT solar module plant in Longyan, Fujian: Solar module manufacturer G&P Sun Energy plans to build a new 5 GW production line for heterojunction (HJT) modules in the Energy Internet Industrial Park in Xinluo District. The Longyan, Fujian facility will be constructed in 3 phases, with an investment of RMB 500 million ($69 million) as part of the 1st phase to build a 1GW module production line.

Betterial to expand Xianyang base: Polymer film producer Betterial has signed an agreement to expand its Xianyang facility. With Phase II, the company aims to achieve an annual production of 80 million m2 of PV film when fully commissioned. Combined with Phase I, Xianyang Phase II can meet the needs of 16 GW PV module packaging material in Northwest China.

Tianyishangjia releases H1 2023 financial results: Composite material manufacturer Tianyishangjia High-tech Materials reported an operating income of RMB 972 million ($134 million) for the 1st half of 2023, up 141.27% YoY. Its operating income from the PV business segment alone was RMB 910 million ($125.8 million). The company's net profit was up 82.27% YoY to RMB 132 million ($18.2 million).

China's PV manufacturing industry snapshot for June 2023: China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA) has released a brief overview of the country's photovoltaic manufacturing industry for the month of June 2023. Notable points from the report below:

  • Solar-grade polysilicon output decreased by 3.3% MoM and increased by 27.2% YoY;
  • Silicon wafer output was down 1.2% MoM, but was up 41.3% YoY. Monocrystalline silicon wafers accounted for about 99.3% of the total output;
  • Total cell production decreased by 3.6% MoM but increased 23.6% YoY, with monocrystalline cells accounting for 98.2% of the total;
  • Module production was down 3.9% MoM and up 44.9% YoY, with monocrystalline accounting for about 99.8%;
  • The output of inverters decreased by 10.7% MoM but was up 34.2% YoY.

In July, CPIA had stated that China would account for 40% of global solar installations (see CPIA Raises Solar Installation Forecast For 2023).
