IRICO Group reports H1 2023 financial results: Solar PV glass manufacturer IRICO Group New Energy reported an operating income of RMB 1.288 billion ($176.7 million) for the 1st half of 2023, an increase of 17.54% YoY. However, the company reported a net loss of approximately RMB 147.5 million ($20.24 million), compared with a net profit of approximately RMB 61.1 million ($8.4 million) in the same period last year. The company's PV glass business revenue increased 18.2% YoY to RMB 1.275 billion ($174.9 million). The company cited the decline in the average price of solar PV glass products and the increase in costs as the reasons for the drop in gross profit. For the latest PV product price developments, check our weekly price index (see TaiyangNews PV Price Index).

LONGi commissions 30 GW high-efficiency monocrystalline cell fab in Ordos: Vertically integrated solar PV company LONGi Solar officially commenced operations at its 30 GW high-efficiency monocrystalline cell project in Ordos on August 22. LONGi has adopted its high-efficiency n-type TOPCon cell technology at this facility, aimed at meeting the needs of centralized ground power stations (see China Solar PV News Snippets). LONGi also recently announced via WeChat that it has broken ground to start construction on an integrated wafer and cell fab in the Weibei New City, Economic Development Zone (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Levima Advanced Materials to set up 300,000-ton/year POE facility: Advanced materials and polymer manufacturer Levima Advanced Materials announced that it is entering into a joint venture with Wison Group to build a 300,000-ton/year POE (polyolefin elastomer) facility. The joint venture plans to produce 100,000 tons/year of high-end olefin material products such as POE PV adhesive film materials and toughening materials in the 1st phase, going up to 200,000 tons/year as part of Phase 2. China's PV manufacturing industry snapshot for July 2023: China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA) has released a brief overview of the country's photovoltaic manufacturing industry for the month of July 2023. Notable points from the report below:

  • Solar-grade polysilicon output decreased by 8.1% MoM and increased by 3.5% YoY;
  • Silicon wafer output was up 58% MoM and up 52.8% YoY. Monocrystalline silicon wafers accounted for about 99.3% of the total output;
  • Total cell production increased by 9.4% MoM and up 38.5% YoY, with monocrystalline cells accounting for 98.4% of the total;
  • Module production was up 8.6% MoM and up 68.8% YoY, with monocrystalline accounting for about 99.7%;
  • The output of inverters increased 0.9% MoM and 59.7% YoY.

Earlier this month, CPIA had released manufacturing figures for the month of June, which were mostly down MoM (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
