International EPD certification for LONGi modules: Chinese vertically integrated solar PV company LONGi announced on its website that its high-efficiency modules have cleared the International Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification. And SGS, who offers assessment, verification, testing of solar projects, have awarded LONGi the EPD verification certificate. Indulging in comprehensive calculation and analysis of data, SGS experts evaluated LONGi photovoltaic products in their entire life cycle and also checked for multiple environmental impact indicators. Then they came to the conclusion that LONGi modules have met the requirements of EPD standards, and can be awarded the International EPD certification. LONGi will be part of TaiyangNews Global PV System Technology Trends H1/2023 Virtual Conference, to be held from 27-28 June 2023. Tongwei THC module sets new record: Over a WeChat communication, integrated solar PV manufacturer from China, Tongwei Solar, said that its 210-66 heterojunction double-glass module was tested by TUV SÜD, a third-party testing organization. It was found that the power generated by the front side of the module has touched 728.4 W. This is the second time this year that Tongwei’s heterojunction double-glass module has set a power record. The previous record was set in January with a power of 720.7 W. On another note, few months back, TaiyangNews had an exclusive fire chat with Tongwei Solar’s CTO Of PV Business Guoqiang Xing where discussions also revolved around the company’s module strategy (see From 14 to 80 GW Solar Module Capacity In About 1 Year)

Canadian Solar and BlueScope partner for PV technology innovation: Canada headquartered Chinese solar power company Canadian Solar said via WeChat that it has signed an agreement with wholly-owned subsidiary of BlueScope, a painted and coated steel products company. With this, both the companies will focus on photovoltaic technology innovation and rooftop photovoltaic construction. At the same time, they will also try to improve market competitiveness.

DAH Solar produces first n-type TOPCon cell: PV modules developer and manufacturer DAH Solar said through WeChat that its facility in Anchao Economic Development Zone has produced its first n-type TOPCon high-efficiency cell. Considered to be an advanced international automated production line, the facility adopts digital management system and is equipped with fully automated production equipment.

China’s solar power generation falls by 3.3% in April: Releasing the energy production status for April, the National Bureau of Statistics gave out these details:

  • Power generation in April was 658.4 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 6.1%. The growth was 1% faster than that in March, and the average daily power generation was 21.95 billion kWh.
  • From January to April, the power generation was 2,730.9 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 3.4%.
  • In April, the growth of solar power generation, in particular, fell 3.3% after rising 13.9% percent in March.
