Be there to listen to LONGi, Trina, JA Solar, and AESolar at TaiyangNews Conference on 26 Sep; Tacheng  plant with Astronergy’s 1.16 million PV modules grid-connected; JA Solar facility put into operation; Sany Silicon HJT cell efficiency exceeds 25.29% for first time; Safety Wire Rope and DAS Solar join hands for n-type TOPCon cells.

Advanced Solar Module Applications Conference on 26 Sep: TaiyangNews Virtual Conference on Advanced Solar Module Applications – From Agrivoltaics To Floating Solar And Building-Integrated PV will take place on 26 September 2023, from 09.30 to 13:00 CEST. As the field of applications for solar grows quickly – what was new yesterday, might be an emerging segment today, and really big tomorrow. The segment of floating has developed rapidly into a significant market – and solar module applied need to have different characteristics than panels applied on power plants in the desert. Though still smaller, the field of agricultural photovoltaics (agri solar) has enormous untapped potential, and the opportunities for building integrated solar seem endless in the long run. In this Conference, TaiyangNews will have leading stakeholders from module manufacturing, research, and deployment discuss the latest developments in this solar segment. Tacheng plant with Astronergy PV modules connect to grid: Leading PV module manufacturer Astronergy announced that the second phase of Tacheng Multi-energy plant has been connected to the grid. Astronergy had supplied over 1.16 million pieces of its 642MWdc ASTRO series PV modules for the same, and the plant is expected to generate about 1 billion kWh of electricity annually. Constructed by China Huadian Corporation, this is supposed to be one of the largest PV power generation plant in Xinjiang, Northwest China. Few months back, Astronergy had announced 25.85% average efficiency for TOPCon 3.0 cell in pilot line (see Astronergy’s Solar Cell Efficiency Improvement)

JA Solar 10 GW wafers and 10 GW cell facility put into operation: Over a WeChat communication, solar PV panel manufacturer JA Solar said that the first production line of its 10 GW wafers and 10 GW cells facility has been put into operation. Located in Shijiazhuang High-tech Zone and with an investment of RMB 10.2 billion ($1.4 billion), the facility has been ready within a short period of six months, since the signing of the deal in December 2022. The facility will be developed in two phases and this production line belongs to the first phase. The first phase is expected to begin trial production by end of October 2023, and on completion is estimated to have an output value of RMB 13 billion ($1.78 billion). JA Solar will be speaking at the upcoming TaiyangNews #VirtualConference on Advanced Solar Module Applications on 26 September. Registrations are for free. To register now, click here.

Sany Silicon HJT cell efficiency exceeds 25.29%: Electronic equipment manufacturing company, Sany Silicon Energy, said via WeChat that the maximum efficiency of heterojunction cells in a test line developed by them using PECVD and PVD has exceeded 25.29% for the first time. Sany Silicon Energy’s self-developed PECVD and PVD project was launched in 2022, and is currently in version 1.0, while version 2.0 is in progress. This breakthrough, the company said, further proves the performance of the process and the reliability of self-developed equipment. Meanwhile, earlier this year, Sany Silicon Energy had sealed 11.7 GW orders at the SNEC exhibition (see China Solar PV News Snippets)

Safety Wire Rope inks n-type TOPCon cells deal with DAS Solar: In an announcement, wire producer and seller Safety Wire Rope said that it has signed a daily sales framework deal with Chinese solar PV module and cell supplier DAS Solar. As per the deal, the company will supply about 168 million monocrystalline n-type TOPCon cells to DAS Solar from 1 November 2023 to 31 December 2024. Specific product prices and sales quantities will be subject to the final actual order, the company added.
