TrinaPower Advances Distributed PV Aggregation and Computing-Energy Cooperation

Trinasolar’s distributed PV operating arm, TrinaPower, and a virtual power plant (VPP) operating subsidiary of China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd. (CSG) have completed integrating their operating platforms. Leveraging TrinaPower’s portfolio of more than 1.6 million residential PV plants, the partners will focus on aggregating and trading low- and medium-voltage distributed PV resources, coordinating energy storage and load resources, and trading green power.

In its recent white paper, TrinaPower forecasts that more than 70% of new small-scale distributed PV projects in China will include energy storage by 2030 (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

TrinaPower has separately signed a strategic cooperation agreement with computing-services operator Runjian Corporation to advance distributed computing-energy integration. The two parties will focus on improving the efficiency of existing energy assets and communications infrastructure, developing distributed computing nodes and small intelligent-computing centers, and coordinating virtual power plant dispatch with virtual computing resource platforms (VCPs). They also plan to expand computing-energy cooperation overseas by leveraging Runjian’s computing and data-center project resources in ASEAN markets.

Earlier this month, TrinaPower signed a strategic cooperation agreement with cloud-native and AI operating system specialist DaoCloud (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

China Huaneng Secures Filing for 500 MW Offshore Solar Project in Jiangsu

Energy developer China Huaneng has completed filing for the 500 MW Guanyun offshore solar project (G1-2 zone) in Lianyungang, Jiangsu province. The project will occupy about 700 hectares of sea area in the nearshore G1 zone and is expected to generate approximately 700 million kWh annually once operational.

The project forms part of China Huaneng’s offshore wind-solar co-location strategy. The company already operates a 300 MW offshore wind project in the area and plans to develop an additional 400 MW offshore solar project. Once all three projects are commissioned, they will form an offshore renewable energy base in Lianyungang with a combined capacity of about 1.2 GW.

In July, China Huaneng started construction of its 15 GW Kubuqi ‘desert-Gobi-wasteland’ renewable energy base in Dalat Banner, Ordos, Inner Mongolia (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

CTG Renewables’ 100 MW Qingyu Solar Thermal Storage Project Completes Trial Operation

China Three Gorges Renewables’ (CTG Renewables) 100 MW solar thermal project in Haixi Prefecture, Qinghai province, has completed a 14-day trial operation assessment, with all operating parameters meeting design requirements. The project has now officially entered operation. It uses tower-type concentrated solar power (CSP) technology and a 12-hour molten-salt thermal storage system, enabling continuous power generation at night and when renewable power output is insufficient.

The project was first connected to the grid on April 29, 2025, followed by system commissioning and operational optimization. In August 2026, it completed the 14-day trial operation assessment, generating approximately 11.1482 million kWh during the period. Before the trial operation was completed, the project had generated about 99.107 million kWh since grid connection. At full load, it is expected to generate approximately 227 million kWh annually.

Energy China Issues RMB 2.5 Billion Green, Technology Innovation, and Climate-Themed Perpetual Corporate Bond

Major Chinese energy and infrastructure group Energy China (CEEC) has issued a RMB 2.5 billion green, technology-innovation, and climate-themed perpetual corporate bond on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. The bond carries a 5+N-year tenor and a coupon rate of 1.89%.

The offering is the market’s first perpetual corporate bond to combine technology innovation, green, and climate-themed labels. It is also the first climate-themed bond issued by a central SOE.
