DAS Solar’s perovskite/TOPCon tandem modules for 500 kW demo plant

Solar PV cell and module supplier DAS Solar, in collaboration with China Three Gorges Group's Research Institute, has announced the start of mass production and delivery for perovskite/TOPCon 4-terminal tandem modules. A 500 kW demonstration power station will be installed at the 50 MW advanced solar photovoltaic (PV) technology demonstration base, utilizing DAS Solar’s perovskite/TOPCon 4-terminal tandem modules and achieving a conversion efficiency of 25.4%. This project is set to become China’s first application project using this technology. The tandem cells employ DAS Solar’s TOPCon 4.0 Plus technology, incorporating rear passivation barrier reshaping, rear light reflection, and ultrathin polysilicon deposition techniques, improving long-wavelength response by over 20%. According to a CNAS-accredited laboratory report, the TOPCon bottom cell contributes 40% of the power generation efficiency of the tandem module. Also, according to the release, a new energy theoretical simulation study shows that these modules can achieve an efficiency of more than 40%.

On the TOPCon front, DAS Solar recently released several new research findings related to n-type TOPCon platform technology and presented a pathway to achieve 28% conversion efficiency for TOPCon cells (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

TÜV SÜD Carbon Neutrality and Zero-Carbon certification for DAS Solar’s Quzhou Factory

DAS Solar’s module manufacturing facility in Quzhou City, Zhejiang Province, has been awarded dual certifications for Organizational Carbon Neutrality and Type I Five-Star Zero-Carbon Factory by TÜV SÜD. The certifications were granted for the factory’s achievements in consuming 100% renewable energy and fully offsetting greenhouse gas emissions. TÜV SÜD assessed DAS Solar’s carbon reduction actions and credit offsets, confirming compliance with ISO 14068-1:2023 and the T/CECA-G 0171-2022 Zero-Carbon Factory Evaluation Standards.

Fox ESS resumes IPO counseling for A-share listing

PV inverter and energy storage systems (ESS) manufacturer Fox ESS has registered for a second IPO counseling with Guotai Junan Securities for an A-share listing. Previously, in July 2023, the company initiated IPO counseling with CITIC Securities but withdrew in November. Established in 2019, Fox ESS specializes in residential energy storage systems and PV inverters. In 2022. According to the Chinese financial media Cailianshe, Fox ESS’ revenue exceeded RMB 2 billion ($274.79 million) in 2022.

Haitai Solar receives EoI for 2 GW of 0BB-TOPCon high-efficiency PV modules

Green energy company Haitai Solar has reported that its 0BB-TOPCon high-efficiency photovoltaic modules, launched on September 2, have garnered significant interest in the market. The company says it has received Expressions of Interest (EoI) for 2 GW worth of modules. Haitai Solar claims these modules can save 20%-40% of silver paste and increase conversion efficiency by 0.7%-1%.

In September, Haitai Solar announced the successful production of the first solar module at its Houhu factory in Tangshan, Hebei Province (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
