SPE at TaiyangNews Distributed & Smart Solar Virtual Conference on July 29, 2025

TaiyangNews has organized a Virtual Conference on Distributed & Smart Solar to explore the latest innovations, business models, and policy frameworks shaping the future of solar in the residential and commercial & industrial (C&I) sectors.

Jan Osenberg, Head of System Integration at SolarPower Europe, will be sharing insights on the topic: Enabling the Next Wave of Distributed Solar. He will be delving into the policy frameworks required for greater flexibility.

The conference, which will also feature presentations from AIKO, EUPD, LCP Delta, JTPV, and Sigenergy, will take place on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 09:30 to 12:30 CEST. Register for free here.

CSCEC secures TÜV certification for perovskite BIPV

Chinese steel structure and construction firm CSCEC Science and Industry’s perovskite BIPV product has received what it terms as the ‘world’s first’ TÜV Rheinland certification in its category. The company stated that the product passed all IEC 61215 and IEC 61730 international tests in one go.

The company’s BIPV panels use high-transmittance colored glaze glass and composite lamination techniques, said to be able to mimic the texture of aluminum or stone curtain walls. The product achieves an efficiency of up to 16.8%, and the company claims it outperforms crystalline silicon BIPV products under weak-light conditions.

On the topic of BIPV, earlier this month, perovskite manufacturer UtmoLight announced that 2 of its BIPV projects were selected for green building fund support (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Huasun secures 500 MW HJT solar module deal

Leading heterojunction (HJT) manufacturer Huasun Energy recently signed a strategic procurement agreement with Xuancheng Kaisheng Supply Chain Services Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Kaisheng Group. Under the agreement, Kaisheng will procure 500 MW of high-efficiency HJT solar modules from Huasun to support the construction of local PV power projects in Xuancheng, Anhui Province, eastern China.

Haier’s smart energy solutions for zero-carbon industrial parks

Chinese home appliance giant Haier’s 2 manufacturing parks in Qingdao, Shandong Province, have been awarded the first batch of Zero-Carbon Park certifications by the China Quality Certification Center (CQC). Haier New Energy, a subsidiary of Haier, supplied its smart energy solutions for these projects.

One of the projects, the COSMOPlat Industrial Internet Ecopark, has deployed an integrated solar solution consisting of rooftop PV, solar carports, and BIPV curtain walls. With an annual electricity generation of over 50 million kWh, the system is said to meet 35% of the park’s power demand.

The other project, the Sino-German Industrial Park, has built on its existing green and low-carbon infrastructure by integrating an intelligent platform that enables full-process visualization of energy flows and carbon emissions. The park is reported to have achieved an integrated energy utilization efficiency of over 80%, with annual carbon emission reductions of up to 32,000 tons.

In March, Haier New Energy signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Huasun Energy to collaborate on ground-mounted solar PV bases, C&I PV projects, and residential PV projects (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Chinese team achieves 27.35% perovskite-CIGS tandem solar cell efficiency

A research collaboration between CHN Energy's Low Carbon Institute and the Beijing Institute of Technology has published a paper in Nature Energy titled ‘Inhibiting defect passivation failure in perovskite for perovskite/Cu(In,Ga)Se₂ monolithic tandem solar cells with certified efficiency 27.35%.’

According to the paper, the team’s perovskite/CIGS tandem solar cell achieved a certified conversion efficiency of 27.35%, surpassing the previous world record of 26.3% set by a South Korean team and published by the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). CHN Energy claims the breakthrough was enabled by proprietary low-roughness, high-efficiency narrow-bandgap CIGS bottom cell technology. It is reported to be the first tandem cell to exceed the certified 27.3% efficiency of single-junction perovskite cells (0.1065 cm² active area).

In February, Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin (HZB) and Humboldt University Berlin announced achieving 24.6% efficiency for a CIGS-perovskite tandem solar cell (see ‘World Record’ For CIGS-Perovskite Tandem Cell With 24.6% Efficiency).

Keqiang delays solar lamination silicone sheet facility

Specialty rubber producer Keqiang has announced a delay to its solar lamination silicone sheet manufacturing project. The project, funded through a RMB 188.4 million ($26.17 million) stock offering in 2023, was originally intended to expand annual production capacity by 1 million m2 of high-performance rubber products. These included solar silicone sheets, storage tank linings, flame-retardant tarpaulins, and gas tank sealing materials.

In its latest disclosure, the company cited the supply-demand imbalance in the solar industry as the primary driver behind a 21.97% year-over-year decline in its silicone sheet sales in 2024, accompanied by a sharp price drop. The company stated that it has decided to postpone the project timeline in light of these conditions, extending the target operational date from September 2025 to September 2026.
