China Solar PV News Snippets: JA Solar At TaiyangNews Virtual Conference & More
JA Solar to Present at TaiyangNews Smarter Solar for Homes & Businesses Virtual Conference
Residential and commercial solar are key pillars of the solar sector. In an era marked by geostrategic uncertainty, trade tensions, supply chain realignments, volatile energy prices, and shifting regulatory frameworks, energy resilience has become a central priority for households, businesses, and policymakers.
At the TaiyangNews Smarter Solar for Homes & Businesses Virtual Conference, Xiao Qin, Head of Module Product Management Department at JA Solar, will be presenting on how the company’s DeepBlue 5.0 module maximizes return in rooftop solar installations.
The event is scheduled for Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 09:30 to 13:00 CET. Registrations are free and can be done here.
LESSO Solar Rolls Out First TOPCon Cell from Heshan Factory
Solar cell and module manufacturer LESSO Solar announced that its Heshan manufacturing base in Guangdong has produced its first TOPCon 210N solar cell. The company is a subsidiary of LESSO Group, a large-scale domestic building materials and home furnishings enterprise that officially entered the solar manufacturing industry by establishing its PV unit in 2021.
The facility was completed in November 2025 with a designed annual cell production capacity of 6 GW. According to the company, it also operates a module capacity of 11.3 GW in China and 2.4 GW in Indonesia.
Hubei Announces 1.3 GW of RE Pilot Projects
Hubei Province has announced a batch of 13 renewable energy pilot projects with a combined capacity of 1.3 GW, including 8 wind energy projects totaling 800 MW and 5 solar projects totaling 500 MW.
The solar projects range from 100 MW to 200 MW, with 4 of them requiring energy storage integration. All PV projects are scheduled for grid connection by 2027 and are exempt from the standard competitive allocation process, allowing them to proceed directly to construction.
CNPC Launches 5 GW Inverter Tender
China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) has issued a tender for centralized inverter procurement with a total estimated capacity of 5 GW. The company plans to procure 200 MW of inverter-step-up integrated units, 100 MW of centralized inverters, 4.4 GW of string inverters for utility-scale projects, and 300 MW for distributed applications. The bid opening date has not yet been announced.
Recently, CNPC received approval for a PV direct supply project in Shaya County, Aksu, Xinjiang (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
China’s Large-Scale Solar Cell Output Reaches 98.26 GW in Jan-Feb
Data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) show that large-scale industrial enterprises produced 98.26 GW of solar cells in January and February 2026, down 7.8% year-on-year (YoY).
Total power generation during the period reached 1,571.8 billion kWh, up 4.1% YoY. Solar and wind generation totaled 92 billion kWh and 194.6 billion kWh, up 9.9% and 5.3%, respectively.
For 2025, NBS data showed that China’s solar cell output from large-scale manufacturers increased 7.6% YoY to 832.7 GW (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
China Targets 3.8% Cut in Carbon Emissions per Unit of GDP in 2026
China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has outlined plans to reduce carbon dioxide emissions per unit of GDP by about 3.8% in 2026, as part of a shift toward dual control of carbon emissions.
The plan calls for accelerating the construction of large renewable energy bases, including ‘Desert, Gobi, and Waste Land’ projects, hydro-wind-solar hubs in the southwest, and new energy bases in coal mining subsidence areas. It also supports distributed renewables based on local conditions.
The plan includes accelerating the build-out of large renewable energy bases, expanding distributed energy deployment, and strengthening carbon market mechanisms. It also details a plan to revise energy and emissions standards and expand monitoring systems for green trade.
