Trinasolar Delivers 1 GW of Vertex N 720W Modules to Plateau Solar Project
Vertically integrated solar manufacturer Trinasolar has announced that it has supplied over 1 GW of its Vertex N 720W modules to the Jinsha River upstream clean energy plant, part of China’s National Water, Wind, and Solar Integration Demonstration Base. Located at an altitude of 4,200-4,800 meters, the project will generate 5.1 TWh annually, saving 1.67 million tons of coal and reducing 3.74 million tons of CO₂ emissions. The company says the Vertex N modules, featuring n-type i-TOPCon technology, provide high efficiency, low degradation, and resilience under harsh ultraviolet conditions.
Trinasolar’s proposed 1.5 GW solar module factory in Spain was one of the projects selected under the EU’s 4th Innovation Round (see 3 GW Solar PV Manufacturing Capacity Under EU’s 4th Innovation Round).
Huasun and Xinjiang Silk Road form GW-level partnership for HJT solar expansion
Heterojunction (HJT) manufacturer Huasun Energy has signed a strategic framework agreement with Xinjiang Silk Road New Energy Co., Ltd. to promote high-efficiency HJT solar products. As part of the partnership, Huasun will supply over 1 GW of HJT silicon wafers, cells, and modules to Silk Road New Energy annually. With this agreement, the 2 companies aim to advance R&D, production, and marketing efforts, supporting China's dual carbon goals and fostering energy sector growth. The companies expect Xinjiang’s favorable solar conditions and resources to enhance the partnership’s impact.
Huasun Energy was one of the 6 companies shortlisted under the 500 MW Section 2 of China Huadian’s second batch of centralized solar module procurement for 2024 (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
Haida Holdings to supply 8 GW of clip products to LONGi Green Energy
Rubber and plastic materials manufacturer Haida Holdings has announced that its subsidiary, Haida New Energy, has signed a long-term clip procurement agreement with LONGi. According to the agreement, the company will supply clip products to LONGi, with an expected procurement volume of 8 GW from June 2025 to June 2027. The specific procurement volume and price will be determined based on purchase orders, and the total transaction amount will be subject to the final deal. Haida Holdings also disclosed in the same announcement that its strategic cooperation agreement with China Building Material New Energy Engineering Co., Ltd., signed in 2021 for a 2 GW flexible module solar PV power station project, has been terminated due to adjustments in the latter's business and technical plans.
YOURBEST’s 9M 2024 revenues up, net profit down
Solar ribbon manufacturer YOURBEST has released its Q3 2024 financial report. The company reported operating revenues of RMB 794.18 million ($111.64 million) for Q3, marking a slight increase of 5.24% compared to the same period last year. However, the net profit attributable to shareholders, excluding non-recurring gains and losses, fell by 75.21% year-on-year (YoY) to RMB 10.91 million ($1.53 million). For the first 3 quarters of 2024, YOURBEST reported total operating revenues of RMB 2.47 billion ($348.16 million), up 21.04% YoY. Its net profit attributable to shareholders, excluding non-recurring gains and losses, declined by 65.76% to RMB 38.98 million ($5.48 million) during the period. The company attributed the sharp decline in profit to factors such as rising commodity prices and intensified market competition, which have compressed the profit margins of its products.
Trina Storage's Elementa 2 ESS obtains NFPA69 explosion-proof ventilation certification
Trina Storage, the energy storage arm of Trinasolar, has announced that its Elementa 2 next-generation liquid-cooled energy storage system (ESS) has obtained the NFPA69 explosion-proof ventilation system certification from TÜV Rheinland. The company says Elementa 2 offers comprehensive safety from cells to the entire system. It adds that the ESS is equipped with high-safety, high-performance, and long-life Trina cells, ensuring zero degradation in the first year. Trina claims that the proprietary cells used in the ESS have received domestic and international certifications, covering IEC62619, IEC62620, GB/T36276, UL1973, UL9540A, GB38031, among others. Its upgraded PACK PRO design meets the UL94-5VA flammability standard, which the company says ensures maximum stability and safety of cell performance.
In early August, Trina Storage launched its first fully integrated 10 MWh Elementa 2 Elevate ESS for the North American market (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
