DMEGC Solar supplies modules for China’s largest offshore PV project

Vertically integrated solar manufacturer DMEGC Solar has announced that it is supplying solar modules for China’s largest offshore solar photovoltaic (PV) project. The project, known as the CNNC Tianwan 2 GW Tidal Flat PV Demonstration Project, is located in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, and adopts a ‘PV + nuclear power’ multi-energy complementary model. Developed by CNNC Huineng Co., Ltd., construction on this project began in May 2024, with full capacity grid connection expected in 2025. DMEGC Solar is said to be the primary module supplier for this project, providing its Infinity n-type high-efficiency bifacial double-glass modules designed for high-salinity, high-corrosion, and high-humidity offshore conditions.

Recently, DMEGC Solar’s Infinity Series high hail resistance modules passed the 65 mm large-diameter rigorous hail test conducted by CGC (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Trinasolar Evergreen launches new BIPV products

Trinasolar Evergreen, a subsidiary of Trinasolar focused on green PV building solutions, has launched 4 new TEG series Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) products. The 4 products are as follows:

  • TEG Solar Tile: Designed for various public and complex buildings' rooftops, with a maximum power output of 160 Wp and an efficiency of up to 19.4%

  • TEG Solar Industrial Wall: Applicable to factories, warehouses, and logistics centers, it replaces traditional industrial building metal walls, with a power output of up to 400 Wp and an efficiency of 21.9%

  • TEG Solar Sound Barrier: Integrating solar panels with sound-absorbing materials, suitable for upright and enclosed applications, with a sound insulation rating of 35 dB and a noise reduction coefficient of 0.95

  • TEG Colored Solar Glass: Suitable for building facades, corridors, and skylights, customizable in color and texture to match different architectural styles. It uses tempered glass with a thickness of at least 5 mm and PVB film

Jolywood reports 9M 2024 net loss of RMB 349 million

n-type solar module manufacturer Jolywood has reported Q3 2024 revenues of RMB 1.46 billion ($205.73 million), a Year-on-Year (YoY) decline of 63.23%. Excluding non-recurring gains and losses, the company reported a net loss attributable to shareholders of RMB 12.39 million ($1.74 million), down 105.27% YoY. For the first 3 quarters of the year, Jolywood reported cumulative revenues of RMB 4.544 billion ($638.63 million), down 53.35% YoY, and a net loss attributable to shareholders, excluding non-recurring gains and losses, of RMB 349.02 million ($49.06 million), down 164.43% YoY. The company attributed the decline in revenue and profit to the downward price trend in the PV industry.

In August, Shanghai Yuanye New Energy Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of SPIC, announced the suspension of its residential distributed PV EPC partnership with Jolywood's subsidiary owing to the prevailing PV market conditions (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Sihe Solar’s 8 GW monocrystalline ingot and wafer fab starts production

Sihe Solar (Inner Mongolia) Co., Ltd. has started production at phase I of its 8 GW high-efficiency monocrystalline ingot and wafer slicing plant in Duolun County, Xilingol League, Inner Mongolia. The company has invested a total of RMB 2.399 billion ($336.63 million) in the project that is being constructed in 2 phases. The first phase, which began in September 2023, includes the operation of 64 monocrystalline furnaces. Upon full operation, the project will produce 182 mm and 210 mm n-type high-efficiency monocrystalline wafers.

China Datang's 1.5 GW PV project approved

Independent power generation company China Datang announced last week that the Datang Mengxi Tokto Large Base Phase II Project has received approval from the local authorities. The second phase of the project, located in Dalate Banner, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, will generate 1.5 GW of solar power. The project is expected to be fully online in 2025.
