The webinar, which will focus on the commercial developments that are transforming BC into a strong contender for utility-scale PV installation, is scheduled for Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. CEST. Registrations are free and can be done here.

Huasun Energy joins SSI

Integrated heterojunction (HJT) manufacturer Huasun Energy has officially joined the Solar Stewardship Initiative (SSI). The company states that it is the first HJT-focused manufacturer in this initiative launched by SolarPower Europe and Solar Energy UK. The company highlighted the natural low-carbon advantage of HJT technology, noting that its HJT modules feature a carbon footprint as low as 366.12 g CO2eq/W, significantly below the industry average. Huasun emphasized its dual focus on low-energy manufacturing and high-efficiency output.

The company stated that it continues to reduce emissions across its manufacturing chain by adopting renewable energy. As of 2024, Huasun’s facilities had a rooftop solar PV capacity of 59.07 MW, representing a 115% year-over-year (YoY) increase, while renewable energy consumption exceeded 177 million kWh, a 262% YoY increase. Huasun said these figures demonstrate its substantial achievements in green manufacturing.

Earlier this month, SSI introduced new binding targets and reporting rules to enhance ESG compliance and traceability for solar manufacturing (see Solar Stewardship Initiative Sets New ESG & Traceability Rules).

TCL Solar and Zhongrong Group complete China’s largest user-side standalone energy storage project

TCL Solar, together with a subsidiary of private equity firm Zhongrong Group, has brought online the Yangjiang Yichuan 125 MW/250 MWh user-side energy storage power station. Said to be the largest of its kind in China, this project was built for nickel alloy manufacturer Yangjiang YiChuan Metal Technology. The project was commissioned to support the company’s green manufacturing and low-carbon power consumption goals. The storage system enables peak-valley arbitrage and is expected to optimize the company’s annual energy expenditures by 16.74%, leading to savings of more than RMB 58 million ($8.08 million) in annual electricity costs.

Earlier this week, TCL Solar announced that its distributed PV power station in Wuhan, Hubei, has completed Phase II development of a carbon-inclusive project (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Mellow Energy sets new world record for 30 × 30 cm perovskite PV module efficiency

A 30 × 30 cm perovskite PV module, developed by perovskite manufacturer Mellow Energy, has achieved a TÜV SÜD-certified conversion efficiency of 24.36%. The company stated this represents a new world record for modules of this size. According to the test report, the module’s forward-scan efficiency reached 23.72% and reverse-scan efficiency 24.36%, with an Isc of 0.410 A, Voc of 55.993 V, and FF of 80.26%.

Mellow Energy has already commissioned a 100 MW perovskite production line in Zhuhai, Guangdong, in 2024. It claims that 1.92 m2 large-area modules produced at this line have demonstrated a conversion efficiency of 17.9%.

In March 2025, Mellow Energy announced achieving 15.04% full-area efficiency on a 1.56 m² flexible perovskite module (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
